I don't mean to be disrespectful to those who have voiced their opinion on this question, but it's impossible to logically conclude who is the best Bluebird ever. I'm not being a politician by not naming someone. Unfortunately, I am due to my training and profession a slave to logic (it drives Henry nuts). I generally don't form opinions without defendable facts and logic supporting my opinion. There are way too many intangibles and changes to the game that have occured over the decades to compare one player to another player that played 10, much less 40, years ago. Sorry (and you can now put down your popcorn and take a drink of pop. )

There is a good reason you forgot me: I don't belong even being mentioned in this discussion. The success I enjoyed and accolades I received were totally a result of the system I played in and the great players I played with. We don't win state that year and I go from being a first team All State selection to an honorable mention (at best) selection to the all Northern Campbell County team. But thanks anyway and Semper Fi back at you my friend.:thumb:

I have not followed highlands football that closely, but didn't they a guy by the name of Vorhees or Vorees that was pretty special?

Effie Vorhees (sp) was very good. That is going back a few years.

Effie Vorhees graduated in 1965 and was very similar to Justin Frisk in his running style. Vorhees led the state in scoring in 1964 and was named 1st Team All State. He started at fullback at Western Kentucky University for four years. I remember a game against Ashland in Ashland his senior year. A bunch of us were standing on the track near the end zone waiting for Ashland to kick-off. Vorhees was ready to receive the kick-off when he looked over to us and shouted that we were going to see him run for a touchdown. That's exactly what happened. Vorhees wasn't the greatest football player ever at Highlands, but he would rank as one of the top 5 or 6 running backs of all time. He was an amazing talent. When he turned the corner, he was gone. Unfortunately, he died of heart failure at a young age.

JLo was special, but only played 1/3 of the game (Off., but no Def or Special Teams). Also, his exploits at UK were a function of both his great athletic ability AND the Mumme offensive scheme.

I don't think anybody from any school has in recent memory.

I'm pretty sure Collinsworth will in his HS career. He was 1st team last year on D. This year you will see him at RB. I'd say his chances are pretty good.

They never put a kid the same year on both offense and defense. I think the reason behind it is to give another kid an opportunity to be all-state..:thumb:
