I would like to see a possible matchup between Somerset and McCreary Central in the next few years. Could be a good matchup. I know a few Somerset fans that live in Whitley.

 

They've played on the JV level the last couple of seasons but the games weren't very competitive. I think the game last season was 28-0 Somerset after the first quarter. The Raiders have improved but with their current district I think the step up in out of district competition they made this season might be enough for a couple of more seasons.

McCreary has progressively got better the last couple of years. They could make a giant jump forward this year. Watts is a big time player and there are several other kids including Roark who anybody would love to have on their roster. They need to improve on defense. They gave up way to many points last year. Watts is great starting place. He is probably one of the top safeties in the state. The Raiders could be much better next year and not see very many more victories. But I expect their opponents will know they were there.

This really good RB that they have, I've heard a lot about. Does he have big time potential?

I think Watts will play D-1 and Roark will have a shot as well. We have a very good group of young men and more coming up each year. To those of you that give supporting thoughts and gestures I truely thank you! It means a lot to the people that work hard (players coaches ect..) to hear people say positive things about their efforts. Thank you!

The football team wont have much success until the AD removes the current coaches. There is talk that if they dont have a real good season this year then changes are in order. Rob Jones is going to have to earn his money this year.

I hope McCreay is improved. I just take issue with the projections of the "15 kids that will literally knock the taste out of your mouth" quotes. I saw McCreary's younger players last season and they are only okay. Watts and Roark are nice players but this is a team that has a long way to go to compete in their district and out of district against teams above the Class A level. I wish them well and they are on the rise but this is a team that will struggle to win over 1 district game. Given a few years the Raiders can make an impact, it just won't be this season.

The AD in McCreary Co. will not remove anyone. He doese not have the power to do so. The Super. or Principal will make the staffing decisions. I don't think applicants will be standing in line to take the McCreary Central Job.

Then why do you get on here and say that he runs the show, has all the power. I am hearing they will clean house if they don't have a winning season. Baseball and Basketball won with the same players, so time will tell.

The Basketball Team and the Baseball Team both had a good year. I did and will continue to support them both, no matter the outcome of a season. Neither one beat a team in the class with Bell Co.,Rockcastle Co. or Knox Central. Go Raiders, I will continue to support the players and Coaching Staff and Administration.:isurrender:

Somethings to consider here. 4 years ago when Gay took over for Aurthur MCCreary had 22 kids dressed out the last game of the season, 4 of the 22 were from the Job Corp, that means 18 McCreary Kids dressed out. McCreary had won 4 games in 5 years and never been in the Play-offs.I think Coach Gay ans his staff saw the major problem being numbers. The McCreary Staff took the aproach that every kid out for football would play at some leval. Therefore, not much was put on winning at the JV leval. Results: 40 + dressed out for the last 3 years. Look for 40 + this year, also this year McCreary will play a Fr. schedule. Looks like progress to Me. McCreary has made the play-offs 2 years in a row, goning for number 3. Thank You.:dancingpa

Dress 50 kids, Play 14 kids, Not much different in the numbers. Your program is going in the right direction with kids don't play on both side of the ball. The football team has not beat a team over Class A except for a very bad Madison Central Team. Looking for big things this season. Go Raiders.

Don't know how you can say played only14 kids. when they have about 20 coming back that started a least one game. McCreary Program is in better shape now than it's ever been in. Most Teams, even the good ones play their best players 2 ways. Go to the State finals and watch. Some people are never happy with the players or Coaching Staff. I appreciate everything McCreary Central Staff has done for my Son. Go Raiders. Beat Rock or Knox or Both, then the knock will be , why didn't you beat Bell.
