True, but he was only 6-8 3.83 ERA with the Indians and only faced an 2 AL East teams all season (Yankees and Blue Jays once each). He really made hay against the NL. He's pitching the the AL East full time this season--it'll be interesting to see how he performs against those offenses.

After getting bombed in his first four starts, Sabathia was 6-5 with a 2.16 ERA in the rest of his time with the Indians. And in those two starts against the Yankees and Blue Jays, he allowed only two runs in 15 innings and less than a baserunner per inning.

 

Assuming Sabathia is healthy, he should be fine.

I think Tex is a heck of a lot better than Giambi. There was little doubt he was juicing back in the day. That hurt him more than becoming a Yankee.

It was just one game but it was against a last place team from the AL East last season. His team will be playing 17 games against the Red Sox, Rays and Blue Jays offenses this season instead of 6. Also, players with his ummmmmm physique and conditioning tend to lose it quickly when it goes.

 

 

Not saying he's done after one start but I wouldn't be very happy about the length of his contract with all the mileage on him and the fact that he doesn't seem in shape for 1/6th of the season. One of these days he won't be able to turn in on in May.

I'm not a fan of contracts that they throw around without a salary cap but it is what it is until they do something about it.

To me it's no secret with CC. It's not like he was chizzled, came to the Yanks then got fat. I don't think they signed him thinking he was going to slim down. That is something has has to want to do like Harrang did.

I guess there are ludicrous fans that write players off after one game. I'm just not one of them. From a talent stand point I'm not sure NY isn't 3rd in the Division. Jeter is a big problem I think. They are getting old and need more of a youth movement IMO.

Yes, his first start was lousy, really bad but imo Sabathia will be just fine.

I'm a Yanks fan and think it's ridiculous to be all over those guys yet lol! It's one game! Tex will be just fine I think. CC's fastball was 2 miles slower than opening day last year.

Tex and CC aren't my worries with the Yanks.

Seriously, if I were a Yankee fan I'd be more concerned about 1) Their bullpen leading up to Rivera. 2) Their outfield, very mediocre. 3) Their defense in general--outside of Tex they don't really have any standout defenders.

 

Its too early to write CC off but I'm glad the Yankees are on the hook for 7 years with him instead of the Red Sox. I'll be very suprised if he makes it beyond 3 seasons effectively--he just doesn't keep himself in good enough shape.

CC will win a few games. He did have a bad start last April, but finished strong. Will he do that this season? Who knows. I hope he does. Tex will be fine. I think it's the whole "playing for the Yank's" thing that gets into one's head. It's the most stressful team to play for. It's the biggest stage and the players have to deliver or else hear it from fans, media, and the brass.

I just don't think this team is as good as some of the recent teams. I don't think Boston is nearly as good on offense but have a ton of pitching. I really think Tampa has a great shot to win it again once they bring Prince up from the minors and if Upton can stay healthy. I think the Yanks are 3rd in the divsion right now.

C.C. Sabathia came back from a terrible first game to beat KC tonight. Sabathia went 7.2 IP with 6H, 0 ER, 6 K's in the Yankees win. Looks like the sky is not falling after all with him.
