April 10, 200917 yr The very basis of the christian faith: Jesus says these are the two greatest commandments love God with all of your heart love your neighbor as yourself Where does capitalism, or social darwinism fall in either of these two categories? If our laws, and our ideas, and our principles are not in line with these then we are not a Christian nation. Simply acknowledging God does not make us a Judeo Christian nation. If we want to be that, we do not try to take rights and liberties away from people who are different from us, we love them, we make it easier for people to get health care, even if that means I make less money, we are good stewards of the earth for future generations . . . we are meek, we are peacemakers, we mourn, we give when we see others in need. We are not a Christian nation, but I think with this new administration we are heading in the right direction. Interesting that you leave out abortion. Where does your liberal view of abortion fit in with Jesus two greatest commandments? We are not a Christian nation because a Christian nation would not let the murder of 3,000 unborn babies happen for the sake of convenience of one's lifestyle.
April 10, 200917 yr I believe we are a nation based on and founded upon Christian beliefs that believes in religious freedom for everyone. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Yet again, for about the upteenth time, I do not consider abortion to be murder. Obviously there are doctors and women who feel the same way. All of my examples were mentions of Jesus words, where does he mention abortion?

All of my examples were mentions of Jesus words, where does he mention abortion? Wow, it amazes me that you really feel that Jesus would be ambilivant to the killing of unborn children. That somehow it is worse to not give a kid something to eat than it is to prevent his birth. Wow, is all I can muster. I will say this, using your same logic, please show me where Jesus says something about health care???? Or about where government should do the job of the church by providing those things you mention. Absolutely, 100% I agree with you that Jesus expects the church to do more than what we do. But I 100% disagree with you that Jesus was telling Peter he was setting his church upon him so that the US government could take over 2000 years later. Is the church failing it's role? Yes, I agree. Does that mean we drop it and let the government take over what we are supposed to be doing? No. Me and you sing the praises that our churches should be doing more.

I think were off topic but for the sake of argueing... I honestly dont think you will find a person who is pro-abortion or thinks abortion is a good thing.. The real policy question is how do we as a nation save control the number of deaths from abortion. We all know abortions are going to happen leagal or illegal... Why not keep abortions leagal and allow couples who are going to commit an abortion anyway have a safe abortion that doesnt involve a punch to the stomach or a closshanger. Think about the lives that would be saved...

Ironic way to finish your post worrying about illegal abortions when this country approves of approximately 3500 unborn babies being killed PER DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! To use your same logic, I honestly don't think you will find a person who is pro-starvation and letting people starve to death (which does not happen in this country). Yet, some are painted as against poor people.

All I'm saying is im not worried about the leagality of abortion, I want the best solution that will realistically save lives. I personally would rather have governmen regulated abrotions than unsafe abortions in a back ally. You completly missed the boat on the logic portion. A. Homeless people in America do starve to death every day. B. Your absolutly right there is argument about policy dealing with the poor and it doenst mean someone is against poverty but have you honestly met a person who is pro-abortion, meaning they think abortion is a positive circumstance?

Considering there are over 3,000 young women a day who are having abortions for convenience and not wanting to change their lifestyle, than there would be 3,000 for you. I would rather have the protection of unborn lives in this country.

Let me ask you this: If it would mean the Supreme Court would overturn the legality of abortion, would you support the dispensation of birth control in schools as a federally mandated program?
April 12, 200917 yr Let me ask you this: If it would mean the Supreme Court would overturn the legality of abortion, would you support the dispensation of birth control in schools as a federally mandated program? No, that is not the school's responsibility. Ours is to educate not become part of a family planning arm of the government. Now, if the government wants to make birth control free to all for parents to make the decision to put their child on it or not, than I would be for that. With the knowledge that the parent refuses to put their child on birth control, they are responsible for the proper upbringing of that child. They don't and they can be charged with parent neglect and throw their butts in jail. We let too many parents get by with NOT raising their child in this country.

So, you don't have a problem with the federal government stopping pregnancies from occurring at conception, just after conception?
April 13, 200917 yr So, you don't have a problem with the federal government stopping pregnancies from occurring at conception, just after conception? Prevention of life seems different than ending life. And again that would be the FAMILY'S choice of birth control, not the federal government's. I think they should be in the practice of protecting life. Not protecting the method to end life.

I think they should be in the practice of protecting life. Not protecting the method to end life. I disagree. The prevention of life is as abhorant as abortion, IMO. IMO, there's no separation of the issue. There's no protection of life in preventing it. That's simply not logical.
April 13, 200917 yr I disagree. The prevention of life is as abhorant as abortion, IMO. IMO, there's no separation of the issue. There's no protection of life in preventing it. That's simply not logical. That makes less sense. Are you saying, and I need to be careful here on wording cause I don't want to be suspended, a male removing himself from his position with the female before getting ready to release his sperm is EQUILIVANT to an abortion? Now, if you are talking the morning after pill or something along those lines, I would be more likely to agree with you. But condoms equal to an abortion. I can't agree with that.

Your devout Christian beliefs defend the sanctity of life. You can't see artificial methods of birth control as manipulation of life?
