ladiesbballcoach Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 As I watched the games this week, the candidate search for UK and the NBA games, my mind drifted and wondered how would everything be different if that little ping pong ball comes up Celtic green and Ricky P gets Tim Duncan. San Antonio does not have the run of championships. Celtics might have won 1 or 2 with Duncan and Garnett is probably still a Timberwolve. UL does not have Pitino as a coach and you probably don't see the success they have seen the past few years. UK fans might still have Tubby or at least Billy as a coach as they are a little more patient with Pitino in Louisville.
DADDY CAT Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 If you are playing "What If", let's play it right. What if Rick had never left UK, which would have put the ping-pong ball What If meaningless? What If RP had stayed around after '97?
5wide Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I'll play... What if Eddie Sutton had never got caught. UK fans may not even know who Rick Pitino was and Sutton would be in the discussion as one of the greatest coaches ever with multiple titles instead of one of the best to never win a title. And, the team he had assembled with Chapman, Manuel, Mills, Kemp, et al, would be one of the best college teams of all time. How's that for a what if?
DADDY CAT Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I really LIKE your what if. It was closer to being fact than any of ours!

KYHOOP Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 What if a frog had wings? If would not bump its butt to move. It would fly away.
DragonFire Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I really LIKE your what if. It was closer to being fact than any of ours! You like it in what way? Creativity, or championships won by a dirty team?
DADDY CAT Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 OK, DF, WHAT IF he put the team together legally and we won all those championships? There. I like that what if. With what we put together then, we were looking at many, many titles most likely. Is this scenario better for "What If"? It didn't happen. (I can't believe I just got called down over a what if scenario from over 20 years ago, but OK.) What if everyone played by the rules and ran clean programs? What if there were no gray areas? But they don't and there are. That is the GLORY of what if. Nothing matters and we can make everything fit. What if the world was square? What if gravity only worked sometimes? What if Elvis is still alive and sleeping over at Jim Morrison's place? It's just a version of let's pretend.
Rebelmedia Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 I'll give you a "what if." What if Barnhart had hired Tom Crean two years ago?
DADDY CAT Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 What If: Pat Riley took the reigns 2 years ago, and brought in Phil Jackson and Rick Pitino along for the ride? It's all up to what we want to dream about.
el gato Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 What if Derek Anderson hadn't injured his knee? :ohbrother: We would've won three straight. :ylsuper:
