March 26, 200917 yr RD is a nice atmosphere but I stopped going for the Derby to protest the way they used to stick it to the fans on that day. I usually just drop by to make my picks, but it doesn't suprise me that they would possibly try to make as much money as possible. If something doesn't change soon they won't be racing at RD much longer.

River Downs, who provide free parking and free admission to both the grandstand and clubhouse, do nothing different on Derby Day than on a normal race day, other than host many, many, more casual fans. If you are referring to attending the derby at CD, then I'm sure that you are paying premiums for everything on Oaks and Derby Day.

Nope, referring to River Downs in the 80's, as I said I stopped going there long ago on Derby Day. Glad they've changed. They used to charge outlandish parking, entry and refreshment pricing; then throw $1000 maiden claimers at you all day. As soon as there was an alternative I took it and have never looked back.

April 2, 200917 yr I guess he means how you have to pay for parking at RD on Derby day. Except you don't have to pay for parking on Derby Day, or any other day. Of course, preferred/valet parking in front of the clubhouse is extra.

April 2, 200917 yr You should go today (Thurs). William (Billy) Trillio will be running his last race today at 4:30. Billy has been a jockey is this area for a long time. He is a great guy and a great jockey. I am happy and sad that he is retiring.

He is a great guy and a great jockey. I am happy and sad that he is retiring. I didn't know that. Hate to see him go; he's been a dandy in the Turfway-River Downs circuit for a long time. I didn't realize he's ridden more than 2,500 winners in his career. Here's a nice story about him from today's Enquirer: Troilo set to retire at Turfway
