Ram Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 What does Boone County need to do to improve in 2009? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.
Boonecofan Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 If Boone is gonna do anything they need to learn to pass a bit more!
Voice of Reason Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 If Boone is gonna do anything they need to learn to pass a bit more! Don't count on that passing game. With Quainoo and Oppenheimer, Boone will have one of the the best backfield duos in the state next year.
leatherneck Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Don't count on that passing game. With Quainoo and Oppenheimer, Boone will have one of the the best backfield duos in the state next year. Even if they were the best backfield duo in the state this coming year, unless Boone develops a balanced offense, in my opinion they don't have much of a chance to beat teams like Trinity and X to win state. Not sure if Boone has a qb with a decent arm, but I know they have at least one talented receiver in Lokesak.

cooperstown Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Lokesak will be graduating in a couple of months.. That will make it very difficult for him to contribute next season.
leatherneck Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 That will make it very difficult for him to contribute next season. For sure. :thumb: For some reason I thought he was only a junior last year. I know his father well and want to remember his son being on Boone's frosh team when they played Highlands when my son was on Highlands frosh team, but perhaps Jim and I talked at a JV game when his son was a junior and my son was a sophomore. Nonetheless, I still don't think that Boone can beat the likes of Trinity and X without a strong passing game to complement the strong running game.
NKY Sport Fan Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I agree Boone will have a really strong backfield, but will need to be able to throw the ball to win games.
Voice of Reason Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Is Boone's QB from last year back? If not, who is going to be the QB next year? In either case, how do Boone followers rate next year's QB as passer? Does Boone throw the ball on the JV or Freshman team levels? Or are they just totally committed to run, run, run?
Boonecofan Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 Sucks to say but I'm pretty sure its RUN RUN RUN been like that since long before I went to school and I graduated in 2002!
jbwill2 Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 How will 2009 Boone County compare with 2008 Boone County? I believe that last year, BC advanced to the regional final playoff game.
NKY Sport Fan Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 BCHS starter Nate Alford will be back at qb.
Boonecofan Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 BCHS starter Nate Alford will be back at qb. Thats at least good news! I know he was throwing the ball well until he got hurt Vs SK in the reg season!
NKY Sport Fan Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Yes he was he was really starting to get a lot of confidence, then thats when he got hurt. Hopefully he comes out this year just as strong as he ended up last year.
OLD RAIDER Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 No Northern kentucky team is going to beat or compete with Trinity or St. X until they get the same type of players. The Big 2 have the cream of the crop in Jefferson County and surrounding counties and Southern Indiana. No other 6A team can compete with that until they can gather those types of Athletes. All the Boone County schools have restrictions on who can attend so open enrollment is not going to be a factor. Trinity and St. X entertain 100's of junior high players at their home games each week. NKY is too diverse and has too many schools. Even a marqee program like Ft. Thomas Highlands cannot compete with Trinity and St. X. And that is the cold hard truth.
