Clark will probably be the favorite, but don't count Mason out. Yes we lost Middleton and Downing, but we return Pawsat and Setty, Gilbert, Lang, and Barner. They will contend!

I'd be really surprised if Holmes didnt return to Rupp from the 9th. I think they return everyone except Jamel Riley and Brandon Housley. I'd say they return the most talent in the state.

I agree with Holmes and Shelby Valley but not Mason Co. Clark Co. will be the team to beat in the 10th next year. Mason Co. loses Middleton and Downing this year.

 

Oh brother we have herd this for last 7 years+,And yes losing Russ and the the rest of the seniors will hurt.But so did losing Miller,Setty,King.Tolle etc and Lofton,Litzinger,Grutza etc just name of few over that time and we have done pretty well to say the least.Clark can be the favorite they were this year also according people,But we will just try and win a couple games,I mean who knows.

Williams was the small point guard who was really the only one having success moving the ball against the press,I think he will be missed as much as Hatton.But GRC returns a ton of big men talent.

Williams did a good job guarding Russ also,yes he will be missed majorly.

East Carter out of the 16th

I think it is foolish to count out Mason. They have such a quality program, even when they are a little down they can still go to state. Clark should be the favorite in the 10th though I would think.

 

Holmes and Scott are probably preseason 1 and 2. I don't know what Shelby Valley returns besides Justice, but if they have a solid group to support him they could be back.

 

East is probably the favorite in the 16th,, but it is anyones game.

I think that Hatfield and Justice both return for Shelby Valley, Holmes should win the 9th, Clark will be the favorite in the 10th, same for Scott in the 11th. I would not be quick to count out Elliott of winning the 16th. Timmy Kinpp had a great showing in the Tournament this week and I look for him to explode next season being the #1 option for the Lions. But as Cats said, the 16th is as wide open as any region next season.

Rogers was out of shape. The kid had just had 2 surgeries and had not played since Jan 17th. What did you expect?

 

Zollo missed most of the 3rd quarter in the game the night before with a high ankel sprain. It was very difficult for him to even play. Again what did you expect? Both of these kids were not 100 %

Clark was not the favorite to most in the GRC VS Mason poll. I didn't think we would win going into the game. Too many injuries this year. Give us a healthy GRC team and I believe the outcome would have been different.

 

As to next year, I just hope everyone is healthy.

My dad says, with the current alignment of 10th region teams, he will take Mason every year and be correct more often than not, like maybe 85-90% of the time.

Cumberland County will return most if not all of thier starters.

 

 

I'd say the early 4th Region favorites will be:

 

-Franklin-Simpson - Only lose three players off the regional finalists this year, two significant. Return best player Mickey Lewis who missed the last half of the year with a knee injury, as well as Terry Bryant who enjoyed a breakout tournament, averaging around 20 points per game in the regional.

 

-Warren Central - Lose three seniors, two significant contributors in Pete Winn and Scooter Lightfoot, off of a 25-5 team that was upset in the first round of the 4th Region tournament. Will be senior laden with 6-7 seniors, and the junior class will include Jordan Shanklin and George Fant, another year more experienced.

 

-Russellville - Lose a little bit more than the other two teams with four departing seniors, but you can't ignore what will be a talented junior class, three of which were starters. In that junior class is guard Damian Elam, who will be starting for his fourth year.

That may be true, but at the beginning of the year, it seems like everyone except Fraysure in the Cats Pause yearbook thought Clark was the favorite.

 

I think everyone thought Zollo would have a bigger impact than he had. He will be better next year when healthy and with another year in the system.
