Central's band and pep section

Featured Replies

When I was in high school and college from 1969-1976 Central was VERY PREMIER. They won two state championships, and star players Ron King and Otto Petty went on to star on a Florida State team that derailed UK's NCAA title hopes in the early '70's. It's nice to see them back in the limelight.

I just wish their local fan support had been a lot better. These kids deserved better numbers than they had in the stands. I mean, my goodness, this was a state championship game!!!

You are so correct! Whenever Louisville Central played, there were literally no one in the stands and for those to young to remember, those games were played in Louisville at Freedom Hall. I remember well the 1967 and 1968 battles against Louisville Central at CovCath, at Louisville Central, during the LIT (what a great tourney it was back then) at Freedom Hall and of course in the Sweet Sixteen at Freedom Hall.

Very awesome, that's the only way to describe them.

I thought the West Jessamine band v. Central was almost as entertaining as the game.

It was great to see Central back and go so far in the tournament, their band and dancers are bomb, and I mean bomb in a very good way. Bibby did a great job, I don't think anyone expected them to go so far. I would say the band and dancers carried their share of the load.

You mean, Central actually had a basketball team in the tourney???
