Central 71 Eastern 65

Featured Replies

Central was able to keep Eastern from dominating the offensive glass, which is the key to beating Eastern. A lot of people had penciled Eastern into the finals, but Central failed to buy into it.

nice win for Central. They might take home the State title in Football and Basketball this year. They're only two W's away.

People have been overlooking Central the whole time. They were winless in December, likely a result of having a basketball team that relies heavily on its state championship football team for players. I think they were 0-8 in that month.

Since then, they stand at 18-6 and all but one of those six losses were close games to strong competition. Ironically enough, the lone blowout loss was a 23 point drubbing @ Eastern. The rest were close losses to Bryan Station, Warren Central, Adair County, PRP and Shawnee. That's one state tournament team (Adair), two region favorites (WC and PRP), an 11th region contender (Station), and Shawnee, the team that beat them in the district and lost to them in the region.

I would classify this game as an upset, but in reality it wasn't a huge upset and shouldn't be a shock. Central has just been flying under the radar thanks to a misleading overall record.

I'd say December capsized their ranking and kept it lower than it should have been in reality.

Well, I still have someone to cheer for in this tournament! Way to go Yellowjackets! Bring home a Basketball Championship to pair up with your Football Championship. Those boys would be sporting some serious bling!

I agree. It wasn't a huge upset.

What about Elliott?

I'm cheering for Holmes, Central, West Jessamine, Shelby Valley and then Elliott. Elliott looked good last night, though.

Wow, you picked Elliott before LC. Why do you hate LC worse?

I don't hate any team.

Really........Elliott..........

I was torn between Grayson County (hometown), Central (one of my favorites in Louisville that's not private), and then Eastern (same region, and a Louisville team). Now that 2/3 of my favorites are gone, I still have a team to root for. I refuse to think who else I could root for until I'm forced to. And I won't choose until I see who's left at that point. :D

If Central can pull this out, they'd double dip basketball and football...wow!!

I think it's been asked before, and it's not very likely, but can anyone remember if that has ever happened?

Be honest with yourselves and realize Central has to win two games. The top bracket of the Sweet 16 was as putrid as it has ever been and every team in it would have had a legit shot to come out of it.

Also, I love how the Trinity fans show up to support the 6th region once the 7th has been eliminated. Per usual for BGP.
