Lots of Transfers in Sweet 16

Featured Replies

There is a lot of transfers this year in the Sweet 16! It looks like kids made moves that have benefited them from the stand point of getting to play in Rupp.

Whitaker, Warren, and Back for Hazard.

The Johnson brothers and Housely for Holmes.

Vee Sanford for LexCath (Jaylen Beckham is only a freshman and didn't transfer, but he played JV for Bryan Station last year).

Deven Adams for Shelby Valley

Barner for Mason Co.

There maybe more. These are just the ones I know off the top of my head.

I don't really consider the Johnsons at Holmes transfers. They were in the Holmes system, left for one year and then came back. I would consider them transfers if they stayed where they were (Cincinnati Taft?) the year they left.

Look up the definition of transfer. They fit.

Maybe by definition but not in the context everyone looks at transfers. It isn't like Holmes wooed them into coming on board. They were there for years and are definitely part of the Holmes feeder. I look at transfers as players who for some reason go to a school they have no connection with. The Johnsons are Holmes kids and always have been, except for one year.

I am not saying anyone did anything wrong in any of these situations. I am simply saying that they are transfers. And without a shadow of a doubt they are transfers.

Looks like it how? Can you show proof that this is the reason they transfered?

Unless you have proof, no reason for this post imo.

Sorry, but what is the point of this thread? Transferring works out for some and not for others, look at the Scott Co. team? :idunno:

Graves County has three transfers ... point guard Jesse Anderson came from Ballard Memorial when his father, the head coach at Ballard, went to Graves as an assistant, although he was a freshman at the time.

The Eagles' other starting guard, Tevin Hill, and reserve Dallas Haneline came over from Lone Oak at the same time.

Anderson and Hill combined for 24 points in the regional final, a 49-45 overtime win over Marshall County.

Christian County has one transfer that I know of, point guard Anthony Hickey. He came from one of the schools in nearby Clarksville, Tenn. His father is the head coach of Christian's girls' team.

Exactley. Not all transfer situations are shady, like some see to think.

So did some others ... but they still didn't make it there.

As a reminder folks:

You read what I typed wrong. I was simply saying that from a basketball standpoint it appears they have benefited. I never accused anyone of transferring just for basketball or anything of the sort. It just kind of jumped out at me that so many teams had transfers. I am not criticizing anyone.

I think its a good thread. No reason to take offense to it unless there is some reason you should. I see no reason to think any of these student\athletes transfered for athletic purposes. I think its fun to see where they would have been and where they are now.
