I am not sure I agree with you. KC lost most of what made them so tough last year. As stated in other posts their QB was the heart and soul of their team. MC didn't lose any skilled players and may have the best O-line they ever had. I just can't see where KC is any better more the less "VASTLY". I know as many others do that W-burg had 3 dates to fill and had them posted on the web, MC tried to play two of those dates but WB refused. Like I have posted earlier, I have many friends who work at W-burg and one use to coach and he told me the feeling in the burg is they would rather lose to anyone by 100 than lose to MC by 1. Bottom line they didn't want to play and that is their option. MC and their fans are upset they ran like they did and that is their option. KC is a tough game for anyone as Coach Mills has built a very strong program and will definately be a tough game for WB. We will let the 2009 season tell us if it was a step up or not! :ylsuper:

Williamsburg must replace the big boys. Rollins, Phillips and Hopkins were good football players. Brock and Lawson's big play ability will also be sorely missed. I expect Barton to have a break out year. The Burg should play McCreary year in and year out. It makes since for both because of their proximity.

Corbin vs Whitley, Whitley vs Williamsburg, Corbin vs Lynn Camp, Bell vs Middlesboro, Knox Central vs Lynn Camp, Harlan City vs Harlan County, I'm not saying these games should be played but these schools are close to each other. Sometimes as fans we don't get everything we want.

Things must be vastly different at MC. They have had superior talent the last two years and couldn't seem to do much with it. To say they are close to Knox is ludicrous.

 

That's true, last year MC played with a bunch of sophmores and a frw fresh and this year they had the injury bug strike when their record was 4-2. However, to give WB their props, MC was 100% healthy when the two played and for the second year in a row it was a great game. Good luck to W-burg in 2009!

(He is still in the top in most of the Combines he has attended.)

The QB they have for this year is more than capable. KC will not be AS strong as last year, but will still be very good.

Hey DC, I agree that KC will still be a great team for 2009 and W-burg will surely have their hands full. As for us being a 1 man show.... don't count on it. I think most people look over Roark who had over 1000 yards in 9 games last year. We have also have a lineman who just a couple of weeks ago won the strongman and D-line award at a combine. He is 6' 4" 290 and had 27 reps with 185 lbs on the bench and he will be a Jr. I will stop there and pick back up when they put MC's thread up. We will talk then! As far as W-burg, I have enjoyed our games they have been very exciting and I wish them all the best for the 2009 season!

You are correct that Watts is an exceptional athlete. I think every team has those 1 or 2 players they just find it impossible to replace. last year we lost Watts at the half of one game and Roark at the half of another game and in both situations it went real bad. A lot of that is the attitude the team has when you lose a quality athlete and LC knows all about that. That is why it is hard to predict how a season will go. In WB's case, if they loose their QB eary in the season it would greatly effect the outcome of their season (I truely hope that doesn't happen). The point is the best you can do as a coach is to try and not put one kid on a pedistool of athletic greatness because a fall from such pedistool would be disasterous for your program. So one thing WB as well as everyy other school can do to improve is to make sure your team is confident with themselves on an individual position bases. If your line thinks they can open holes no matter who is carring the ball then they will open holes and so on!

I'll agree with both of the statements, wideopen. Moses is a great QB. Where is he looking at going after HS?

 

Size and speed seem to hurt all of the SE KY Class A teams as the playoffs go on. Not every year, but most.

Should have some nice receivers coming back also. Did Pettit graduate or does he have another year? Brown, Lowrie, and Barton should have a big year.

Petit is a Junior. I think you will see him more in the tightend position this year.

I agree, Moses is an excellent QB. He has a lot of talent and makes very good decisions with the ball. WB has done an excellent job over the last several years of developing QB's and receivers. They have had a top QB with the last 3 QB's that played there (including their present QB). As I said earlier, I wish WB all the luck in 2009!

I would give the nod to Williamsburg to be the team to beat in the district right now for 2009.

 

I would say, when all is said and done, that Williamsburg and Campbellsville could be at home for at least one game each in the playoffs again and we (at LC) will travel the first round once more.

 

Campbellsville and LC could switch spots, but both have a lot of unanswered, as of right now, questions.

 

I think that Berea will take the 4 spot.
