I caught up with Jonathan Ferguson after the Elliott County Lions defeated Lewis County last night to win the 16th Region Tournament for the third consecutive year...

 

Having the team that the Elliott County Lions have this season, tell me a little about the team’s goals before the season started.

 

Playing Saturday night at Rupp was our only goal.

I agree NKU could use a player of Ferg's talent next year. Also wouldn't mind seeing him go to Marshall either as he would have more national television opportunities. :dancingpa

Clearly no responses were coached. Short, sweet, and to the point. A great interview! I especially loved his last answer. Everyone that knows Elliott, knows he is ready to bury that shot, but he has confidence in others to do the same. (Rightfully so, I might add!)

I hope he goes to WKU. We have a history of in state kids achieving, would love to add Ferg to that list.

I'll add one thing that I've found to be very interesting - trying to cover all the basketball in Kentucky during March :isurrender:

 

We have so many good teams in the Bluegrass state that many people don't even think about. I'd have to look again to be certain, but I think out of all the college teams in the state (D1, DII, DIII, NAIA, etc.) - I believe that about 75% of them won more than 15 games this season. It was something crazy like that.
