Here's some notes from the C-J Blog:

 

* Ballard's Ian Chiles misses off-balance three-point try at the buzzer.

 

* 0:05.2 in fourth: Thomas Jackson sinks two free throws to give J'town a 64-63 lead.

 

* 0:15.9 in fourth quarter: Ballard's Keisten Jones misses two free throws with 23.4 seconds left. J'town has the ball, trailing 63-62, and just called a timeout.

 

* 0:31.7 in fourth quarter: Aaron Cosby hit 1 of 2 free throws with 41.9 seconds left to pull J'town within 63-62. Cosby then got a steal but missed a short shot. Ballard got the rebound on a jump ball and now has the ball.

 

* 0:52.3 in fourth quarter: J'town had two chances to tie or take the lead, but Jordan Reves had his shot blocked and - after a Ballard missed free throw - Thomas Jackson threw the ball out of bounds. Ballard has the ball and just called a timeout.

Sounds like a thriller in the 7th region. Either team (Eastern or Jtown) could go all the way next week in the state tournament.

Ballard let it slip away,scoring 4 points in the last 4+ minutes.

The last foul on Ballard was mega harsh. Ballard let it slip away for sure, but that was a horrible call at the end.

The kid grabbed Jackson as he went around the screen. Not much to argue there. Plenty of calls could be argued through the night as the choice of officials was astonishing.

 

This was a fantastic high school basketball game. Bellarmine was pretty much full. Both schools brought a good number of students (with Ballard in the majority. Three individual standout performances---Jackson in the first quarter and the last 2 minutes, Cox with an unconscious 3rd quarter, and Reeves keeping J-town close as Cox went off.

 

In the end, as with so many games, it came down to Free Throws, Free Throws, Free Throws.

Big win for J'town. Ballard had beaten them twice this year. Now J'town will try to beat Eastern who they have already beaten twice. I look for Eastern to pull off that win.

Musta seen it differently on TV. I thought they called him for falling over his leg. Either way a great game, hard to see Ballard let it slip away like they did though.
