HOw many fans can BOK hold?

 

I believe nearly 10,000 for basketball games.

I like BOK better. I wouldn't care if they had the regionals there every year.:ylsuper:

 

I remember from earlier post d-dawg you were unsure if you thought the BOK was the right site for the 10th region. I have to say I was in the same boat as you. But, after yesterday I have to say I agree with you. I like it there. It is first class and gives a neutral court for all teams involved. I also got to talk to some of the players that got to play their yesterday and they said that it was one of the best experiences of their basketball careers.

Yea , those seats were great. I watched 4 ballgames there yesterday without any aches or pains. The most comfortable seats I've ever seen in a gym. It's about an hour and one half from my home but it's worth the ride. I could hack that every year . Not a bad seat in the house.:dancingpa

That is what it should be about and not self-centered around some fans. I have to laugh when I see what some are complaing about. :lol:

 

I have been both to EKU and BOK. The facilities don't even compare....BOK hands down. To the atmosphere, I agree with another poster, it is the fans and band that provide that...not the building.

Part of the atmosphere issue in the 10th is that very few expected the 1st round games to be competitive. Other than Harrison - Montgomery game, blowouts were expected. Some thought Brossart could give Mason a game and there were quite a few of the Mustang fans there, but had little to cheer about.

Clark Co didn't even bring their band so that takes away from the atmosphere.

I don't know the Cantrel or Litkinghouse ratings but I'd guess that there is a pretty big drop after Mason, GRC, and Scott.

Until the parity improves in the 10th, the first round games won't be greatly attended no matter where they are played.

I find the lighting at EKU to be very distracting. I noticed in a lot of the light sets that one is out in about every set. Maybe it is intentional but it is too dark.

I heard this year that the lighting at McBrayer Arena is being upgraded this next year.

I'll be interested to see what the atmosphere is like on Tuesday night with two championship games. It was somewhat dead for Saturday, but I dont know how you can expect it to be otherwise. But I would say that if the matchups happen Tuesday that everyone thinks that will (and one is already set with Boone-Holmes), it should be a lot better.

 

From just facilities wise, EKU has a solid OVC-level arena that seats 6500 or so, built in the 60s. It serves them well, and when I went to school there in the late 80s, and watched the Colonels play teams like WKU, Morehead, and a game against Auburn in 86-87, they filled the arena to capacity the atmosphere was very exciting.

 

The BOKC is a state of the art facility that was built in 2008 and seats 9400. Now, tell me which one is going to be nicer or better?

Actually, I think McBrayer Arena does contribute something to the atmosphere. The acoustics of the place are such that a crowd of 2,000 can sound like 5,000.
