Highlands don't have the defense Holmes has. Score won't be close. :idunno:

Exactly - Holmes defense is a whole lot tighter than Highlands. So NCC won't be able to get as many open shots. :taz:

The Bulldogs do play extremely tight D, but what my point was that a hot shooting team will have a chance against the Bulldogs. I didn't mean that they would win.

:idunno: I think :D

Newcath shot the ball pretty well from outside the first time those two met, and Holmes still led by 18 heading in to the 4th quarter. If not for a late run by NCC when Henley began subbing out Rico, JJ, and Pittman, the score could have been much worse than the final 12 point deficit.

I agree that a hot shooting team will be able to play with Holmes, but not many are going to be able to play good enough defense to stop the Dogs offensively.

I'm not rooting for anyone, just pointing something out is all. I always root for the 9th down state however.

One thing to consider is that they will be playing on a much bigger floor. This I think will give Holmes even a bigger advantage over a lot of the teams as they are much quicker, however in saying that if NCC can get some good picks out past the trey line they could have some rooms to throw it up....

BTW remember also there will be two 3 point lines on the floor at the BOKC. The farther out of course is the college one, the close of the two is the HS line.....

I'd say Holmes has just as tough a road as Boone. They get Ryle in the first round, who is a very physical team that played the Dogs close throughout in their first match up (they also beat Boone's first round opponent)...and then they get a NCC team (most likely) in the semi's that just beat Highlands by 22 and is playing their best ball right now. NCC is one of the most dangerous teams in the tournament right now.

The only difference in the two draws is that Holmes has beaten all 3 teams in their bracket...Boone hasn't.

Good point. Holmes is the tourney favorite IMO, so any draw could be considered "better" for Holmes. To me, Ryle is better than Beechwood and Boone and Holmes are very close. Based on the recent game, NC is perhaps a more dangerous opponent than Highlands, assuming of course they win game 1. Then, if everything goes according to plan, the two best teams meet in the championship. Bottom Line - If Holmes plays at the top of their game, they will win. I hate to say that - but truth is the truth. Go REBELS!

How is Boone facing a tougher road?

Because Boone Co's only lost was to Highlands who they could face in the 2nd game, while Cov-Holmes only lose to Boone Co they wouldnt face until the championship game. Didnt the polls have Highlands ranked 3rd in northern Ky? I dont know much about Beechwood, (BC opening opp) but they had the 3rd best record in the 9th region.

I agree.

I'm just wondering what kind of "psyche" Boone comes in with if they do get a rematch with Highlands in the semi's. Does Highlands comes in with a swagger and confidence considering they handled the Rebels in Fort Thomas and have already played at BOKC? Or does Boone come in with revenge on their minds and take it to the Birds? Should be a great tourney.

If Holmes gets to the finals, which I'm pretty confident they will, I don't see anyone out of the upper bracket knocking them off. Highlands just doesn't match up well with the Dogs and I really don't see Boone beating Holmes twice in one season. If they do though, they definetly deserve to represent the 9th at Rupp.

All in all it makes one heck of a tournament. I will definitely be there thursday night to support the dogs all the way to state.

With a team like Holmes most good coaches will tell you we're not going to try and stop them because nobody can!!! We need to outscore them while trying to slow them down.

Holmes is no doubt the best team in the tourney but NCC is the best shooting team and the trey will be the difference maker for them(NCC) as they showed last night, they just don't compete very well on the inside against teams that are the same size or bigger.

NewCath could've beat anyone last night. That said, there were times that Pangallo was talking Highlands press 1 on 3 and winning, and I think it will be much more difficult against Holmes should both teams win...

Agreed and Holmes will be all over Pangallo and he tends to force alot. NCC doesn't set screens at all? Might need to add a few against a team like Holmes (if they get by Dixie)
