Outstanding show of sportsman ship before game. Students, Cheerleaders and players from both schools wore an item of pink in honor of mother of Lee County starter Gus Wise, who is fighting second bout wirh cancer. Commenting on this, PA announcer said before game "we are rivals, and that is fine, but we are also neighbors and friends. We are certainly not enemies". In response, two minute standing ovation from packed house just before tip-off. Fans were rewarded with great hard fought game. Lee led by nine at end of three, but Estill came back to lead by three with 40 seconds left. Lee tied game, and Aaron Charles came up big in overtime, leading Bobcats to 56th title.

This was a great game. Both teams played their hearts out. Estill had a chance to win in regulation but the last second shot hit the front of the rim. Lee's Aaron Charles took over for the Bobcats in the 4th quarter and in OT. He put his team on his back, that's for sure. Lee's Pelfrey and Pittman's defense made any scoring inside a tough task. Campbell hit some huge 3's in the first half.

Cackling and Hoover also rose to the occasion for Estill. Wiseman played big, even with a bad ankle, and had some big rebound putbacks. Crowe had a solid defensive game.

 

And the crowd was over 2500. Packed gym, no where to sit. I stood the entire game. Standing room only, and if you moved your feet you lost your standing room only spot. Great tournament atmosphere.

I was at the game tonight and I enjoyed every minute of it. I picked Lee to win their district title at the beginning of the season. Glad to see Coach Wright get this one. Maybe this will make up for the 2007 districts. Got to admit that I miss the atmosphere of 14th Region basketball. Congrats to Coach Wright and the Lee Co. Bobcats.

Sure was hot but a great effort by both teams. One of the best games I have seen in a long time at any level; and I missed the first quarter.

Great Game. No quit by either team. Everyone knew that Cackling was going to get the ball for the final shot in OT but Wise read the play and denied him the ball. I thought he read it perfect(he played over top the staggard screens). Really like Charles and the way he went to get the ball and take the game over. Lee struggled the entire time that Charles didn't have it in his hands.
