Tough way for the Cougars to end the season. Anyone have details/stats?

Good Job Raiders! That means Spring Ball for the football team gets to wait another week for the heat! When is the championship game?

OMG, Ryle hits a shot with 4 seconds left to tie the game. Steals the in bounds pass, gets fouled as time expires, misses both FTs but wins in OT. As usual, Conner gives Ryle fits in post season but the Raiders finally prevail.

I didn't expect it to be this close, but I did expect Ryle to move on. Now on to Boone for seeding purposes in the 9th.

This game set free throw shooting back 47 years. Atrocious.

Great game by both team, and wow what a wild finish. The game started to turn when up 7 with about 4:30 left to play Conner got a steal and Lang rushed an ill advised jumper. Ryle rebounded scored a bucket and got the foul. They missed the FT, but it was a huge 4 point swing and the tide began to turn.

Fast forward to the final seconds and Conner is up 2. Ryle scores with about 6 seconds left and then steals the in bounds and has a player fouled at the basket. Time expired on the clock, but if they had a chance to replay it I bet there was roughly 1 tick left on the clock. Coleman goes to the line for 2 with 0.0 on the clock and misses both FTs. Overtime.

Conner had the chance to tie or win with :03 left but Avery was locked up by Lamping and that was the game.

I think Coach Hicks does a great job with the Cougars, but I simply can't understand why there wasn't anything more run for Avery after he hit 4 3s to help give the Cougars some distance. Up to that point they were running him off stagger screens and he was getting wide open shots, but they didn't run it again for the rest of the night and instead used him to set the screens and post up on the block. Made no sense to me as early in the 4th Q he had 20 points and was feeling it.

Congrats to both teams, and a tough end to the season for a young Conner squad...

I was there and although the clock read 0:00, the foul was called with right at 1.5 seconds left or just slightly under that. The Connner coach had every right to gripe like he did.

Let me follow that up by saying the referees did what they should have done in that situation in not putting time back up because there is no way in high school basketball to comfirm how much should have been on it.

Conner had no business losing the game but did. The Avery kid could be a special player...what grade is he in?

Also, I did notice some extremely bad breaking of the scorers table etiquette of not cheering during a game and reacting to the calls like the guy from Ryle did....but this is not the time nor place to go into detail about it.

Best of luck to the Raiders against Boone County ion the district finals and in the 9th Region tournament next week at The Bank of Kentucky Center.

Also, wanted to give congrats to the Conner players who fought hard all night. You guys have nothing to hang your heads about.

Final game is Boone vs. Ryle Friday nite at 7 at Boone. Conner gets to start football next week as their boys and girls teams both lost tough games to Ryle.

This was a fun game to watch and Conner had the game in the bag. Incredible finish with lots of agony. Coach Hicks did a great job of continuing a valid yet pointless argument since you can't put time back on in h.s. - no TV monitors. Froze the heck out of Ryle's shooter by all of the ranting and then a TO. Conner's Avery was brilliant from 3-point land - not sure he missed more than 1-2 all night and must have canned 6. Sweet stroke.

Is the Ryle v. Boone game Friday night?

Nevermind . . . . .

Seems like Conner was still up 7 very late (3 minutes left) but I'm not sure. Missed FT's were Conner's downfall. Ryle was as bad or worse. Perhaps the most exciting finish of any game I've seen this year.

Still can't believe they quit running sets to get him looks down the stretch...

Hadn't thought about that but good analogy. I don't know if he drains them like that all the time but he was incredible tonight. Still can't believe Conner lost that game after leading probably 30 minutes.
