Last time Dixie didn't make it to the region tournament was in 99/00 when they lost to Lloyd in the semi's 62-51, I believe.

 

Coming in to this year, they've won the 34th 8 years in a row.

I saw the box score and was kind of shockded that Craddock for Lloyd only scored 2 points, did they shut him down or was he hurt or foul trouble JD

Dixie only scored 4 points in the 3rd quarter, and until a minute or so left in the game had only scored 2 points in the 4th... 10 total for the half. Plenty of shots were taken by both teams... horrible percentages for sure.

 

Scrappy, ugly, hard fought game by both teams. Dixie moves on. Nothing for Lloyd to hang their heads over, although it's probably tough for the many seniors.

 

I was surprised Dixie didn't try the combination of Pompilio, Smith and Pike together in the fourth quarter. Boese did make the final free throws to seal the deal, but he seemed out of sorts most of the second half and was not getting/earning any touches. Clearly Pike and Smith were motivated and strong as they continuously subbed for one another throughout the half. I think Lloyd would have had trouble bumping with both Pike and Smith, which would have opened things up a bit more for Pompilio.

Raeligh is a pretty good lock-down defender. I dont know if he guarded Craddock or not. However ugly it may have been a win is a win. I was pretty impressed with both teams defensively. Dixie missed too many good looks that could have sealed the victory earlier. Cheatum is a pretty good player, but who else will Lloyd have next year?? The future is bright for Dixie!!

Close game. I thought Dixie would have won by 10+
