Russell 66 Greenup County 64 (OT)

I am kind of like everyone else, kind of expected a different outcome but this just proves that anything can happen come tournament time!!! Has anyone else heard anything about what Fraley might of said about not coming back next year on the radio??? If this is true, won't be good for Greenup to keep changing coaches.

After watching this game (most of it) on t.v. this morning I was impressed with how hard the Russell kids played, they are all out hustle and leave it all out on the floor. The GC kids played the same way imo, both teams played hard and played a clean game. I do think that with an obvious size and strength advantage that GCHS had they should have tried to take it to more of a half court game and go inside alot more than they did. That's just me though. As for the officiating, I don't think it had a bearing on the game one way or the other at all. I did see two or three imo wrong "charging" calls against GC where the Russell defender did a great job of "selling it" or taking a flop to draw the call. Like they say I guess, if you can get away with it and get a call on it then do it.

If this is true, won't be good for Greenup to keep changing coaches.

I agree, I haven't heard anything at all on it. That just seems to be what GC does for whatever reasons :idunno:, the only ones it hurts is the ones that it is supposed to be all about......the kids.

I hope that is not the case again.

Seems like you were the only one to see it. I've talked to several Ashland fans who didn't see anything of the kind, and neither did I.

Did you go to the JV game? .....because that is where it occured.

BTW Blugrass Will, those are some very good pics. :thumb:

You said last week it happened in both, now just the JV game. Which is it? You got beat by double digits in the JV game, I believe we have a distinct case of sour grapes.

Yes, I agree! Excellent photography and much appreciated by this old armchair coach.:thumb:

I had been there since the beginning of school that day.

It was mostly in JV.....then again once by the same player in varsity. You do not agree and that is FINE. I saw it, so did others and I have received personal messages on here agreeing with me. However, those folks seem to be silent on the subject on the main forum. Go figure....

I don't care what the Rusell fans choose to see. I saw it and it was confirmed by OUR players and that is all I am saying on the subject. Crow all you want that it didn't happen. No it isn't sour grapes. JV games are simply played to give upcoming kids a chance to get playing time. The outcomes of those games really don't matter now, do they?

Russell has some great kids in Alexander, Stapleton, Skaggs and Cooper. Those are the ones I know personally.

You know, even if it did happen, I'm sure we have all done thing we're not proud of , especially at that age. And apparently you were one of the few that noticed it. I explained that their coach would deal with it if it happened.

I just don't think this horse can take another beating. You may want to let it go.

Congratulations to Russell. They fought hard for this win. Best wishes to our Greenup County Seniors, I hate to see the season end this way for them, but that is just the way the ball bounces sometimes. We will get 'em next year!

Exactly Hookshot! I do hope all coaches and administrations admonish all kids in every sport from taunting. It only ends up looking bad on the school. We have certainly had players at Ashland in nearly every sport who have been taken to task for the same behaviour. This has gotten totally out of hand on this board. I didn't intend one comment to be taken so overly serious.

First, why don't you simply forward those stacks of PM's to me so I can substantiate your claim that others saw what you saw? That'd squash this squabble.

Second, I have a long memory, and your tune has surely changed about JV considering this reply I seemed to be able to retrieve from the first meeting:

haha thats funny! I was there and the T-cats definitely outplayed the Devils on this one. Much stronger defense and a big performance by Cody Withrow but we'll see how the next one goes! wink wink

Classic, I suppose you saw how the next one went. Went well with the sour grapes.:ylsuper:

Yes, Ashland was the underdog in the fact that Withrow was injured this time. It's hard to win without key players....but still, JV game outcomes don't matter. I don't believe we have any JV tournaments in this area. However, if we do would you please let me know?

It matters to the players and the coaches. Also it can breed winning into your younger players.
