Perhaps Dodd offered him a position on his staff.

Thats funny. Just about as funny as thinking experienced refs could win a game for Russell. :D

They should still be pretty strong with a good sophmore class returning next year.

I don't find the sophomores for Greenup to be all that strong. I know Trey Williams has height but I don't see alot of strength under the basket. He needs to add some weight. He gets pushed around too easily. JMO.

I hope the poster from the Ashland /Russell game thread doesn't see this picture and claim this to be excessive and "cocky".:sssh:

haha touche! No I applaud Tanner Alexander! He is a great kid and player. The young man I questioned in the other thread was doing some trash talking that was picked up on by most sitting around me and confirmed later by one of our players. Couple that with the clelebratory attitude and you have a less than sportsmanship situation. Sorry guys...that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

I am ALL FOR excited players, just not "cocky" ones. There is a huge difference.

This is true.

:deadhorse: Sorry to draw you into this one, TruBu. I couldn't pass it up.:thumb: You guys were just too darn funny in that other thread, I had to post on it.

haha no problem! I am always happy to defend an opinion...especially when I'm right. I give all kids the benefit of the doubt. It wasn't the entire Russell team just one overzealous kid. ....and I agree with you...:deadhorse:

The sophomores are the team for next year--just wasn't given a chance to prove it this year. However, the seniors carried GC this year. The right subs from the bench could have made a big difference in a lot of the games this year had been given the right opportunity. In several instances the shooters were on the bench and should have been put in the game.

I think you're out of the loop on this one, the comment stemmed from the Ashland/Russell game in which Ashland won.

I don't want to skew this thread, let's just say there was an Ashland fan who thought that a Russell kid was taunting. In this game, however, there was lots of emotion from kids from GC and Russell, from both coaches, and from fans of both teams. Regardless of the outcome, no one can claim poor sportsmanship. On the contrary, this is what high school sports atmospheres should be!!!

I agree. I have been critical of the crowd support and student section from time to time this year, but the entire atmosphere last night was terrific. Russell had a good turnout and an active student section. That was good to see. This team deserves it simply based on how much effort they give. Fortunately, good results came along with the effort last night.

Poor shooting did seem to be the downfall of this Greenup County team. Although, I will say I thought that Eric Craft was going to win the game by himself in the 4th quarter. He played a very good game.

Seems like you were the only one to see it. I've talked to several Ashland fans who didn't see anything of the kind, and neither did I.

Just curious...has there ever been a team make it to the 16th region tournament with a record worse than 5-22?
