The Bible tells us that Jesus is the "founder and perfecter of our faith" (Hebrews 12:2). In that context, it means that he has completed our faith, or made it whole if you will.

 

Just prior to that, Hebrews 11 gives an extensive list of Old Testament heroes of the faith and then closes with this sentence in v. 39-40, "And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect."

 

Again, the context means that Christ and His work completed them or made them whole.

 

The point is not about being made flawless, but being made whole or complete. And, apart from Christ, we are all lacking something. That goes for Jews, Arabs, Russians, Americans, Mexicans, etc...

 

We aren't perfect in ourselves, but we are "made perfect" in and through Jesus Christ. Apart from Him, that cannot be accomplished. A Christian's hope is that everyone, all the world, would come to know Christ, and thus be "perfected" through Him.

 

I'm pretty sure that's what Ann Coulter's point was if I recall the gist of the conversation correctly. And, look, I'm not defending her. She says some dispicable things that are unnecessary and uncalled for. People like her, on both sides, aren't helping anything. However, I don't have a problem with the first comment and didn't think it warranted inclusion with the rest.

Without delving into the religious aspect, I would like to point out, and reiterate, that I don't have either a problem with what Ann Coulter believes, nor do I have a problem with her expressing her beliefs. What I have a problem with is her presentation.

 

I don't even bother to listen to political commentators any more. I don't read them, and I don't watch them on TV. They all sicken me. Some are less offensive than others, on both sides. But to me, they're killing American government. Both sides spew character assinations at the other. Both sides belittle the American public. I'm simply done with all of them. I do think Ann Coulter is among, if not THE worst of the bunch.

I agree Rockmom. It appears that both sides are looking for the quickest way to insult and marginalize their opponents. It has become very frustrating for people who are truly interested in following the process as there are fewer and fewer outlets where you can get analysis without the garbage.
