See Nate Edmondson....He always had a high arc shot and it didn't seem to affect how well he shot the ball.

Hatton isn't a very big kid. He's naturally going to have a high arch on his shot. Sorrell of SK, Riley of Holmes, Ferguson of EC, and Meyer of Franklin Co are the same way.

Let me be as clear as I can. You said the kid shoots the ball too high, which makes it harder to control. I said once the ball leaves a shooter's hand, it is out of his control, period. A pretty literal statement, but totally acurate.

 

As far as how much arc is "good arc", I'll leave that to you. I'll keep hoping kids learn to shoot the ball up and not out. :thumb:

I disagree with this. A flat shot has less chance of going in than an arcing shot because there is less room for error. The angle at which an arcing shot approaches the rim give the ball a better chance of going in.

Secondly the number of points scored in a JV game is irrelevant to projecting scoring at the varsity level.

 

You are exactly right, scoring at the JV level is irrelevant if you are a junior or sophmore with little potential to play at the varsity level. However, if you are a 7th grader it is a little more relevant. Hatton has had more varsity points than McClendon (Holmes) this year. Is that relevant??

Probably because Mcclendon plays on a much better team and doesn't see the floor at the varsity level. Holmes doesn't have to rely on 7th and 8th graders to fill out their rotation. If Mcclendon were at Dixie, he'd be seeing just as much varsity time as Hatton.
