Holmes comes in 26-2 after beating Conner 72-50.

 

SK comes in 7-15 after a loss to Covcath, 68-55.

 

Doubt this one will be very close, thoughts?

I think Henley will use this game to work on a lot of things to gear up for Tuesday night. I'd expect to see them press a lot which will lead to a lot of easy shots and turnovers for the Dogs.

How many on the over/under on dunks for Holmes ? I say over 5. Holmes should kill SK on the boards and two will probably be put back dunks [Pittman or Housley]. When I was in school SK was always a top 5 team in NKY. How long have they been down ? I guess Jeff Stowers not coaching in the feeder system has hurt the program.

Holmes should dominate on the glass, like you said. As far as dunks, 5 sounds like a good number to me.

 

SK has only really been down the past two years. In 06/07 they were a legit region title contender and in the early 00's they had some pretty good teams with the Stowers boys, Brock, and Kannady.

What was your opinion of the press against Conner? Did they use the diamond press? Where did Rico play in the press? Was it effective in setting tempo? Did they give up a lot of layups?

The press against Conner got stronger as the game went on. At first it allowed Conner to get several wide open 3's, but once Henley made a few adjustments, it caused a lot of turnovers and was the key for Holmes setting the tempo. They usually bring Arnold in for the press. They put Pittman and Arnold at the half court line, and then they have Rico/Riley/Housely/D.Johnson (depending on personnel) double team one guard and force the other guard to the sideline, where their height is more of an advantage. Didn't see Conner get to many lay ups against this.

SK will have to play their best game of the year to have a chance. Their lack of size will be a huge factor, they usually play a lineup of guards and will likely struggle if they don't shoot well.
