Franklin County 64 George Rogers Clark 56

I was hearing about his ankles about 2 weeks ago. They should be healed by now, Donovan's happened Friday against Madison Central, there's a difference. However, Hatton got it done every way tonight, from three, driving to the bucket, and at the charity stripe. His offense and Zollo's rebounding kept GRC from being blown out.

Both are high ankel sprains..I saw them at school the other day. One had a knott that looked like a big orange on the side of his ankle. It was nasty looking. It will not be healed by the time post season is over....but he will still play. He has so much heart, you have to love the way he gives it all for his team.

FC is a potential spoiler in the tough 11th region.

Somehow, I don't think Scott County will win the state. 11th region is going to be tough with Franklin, Madison, LexCath, Dunbar, Bryan Station, and Henry Clay who is starting to get hot lately. Tates Creek and LCA could be a sleeper team also.

Even if Scott gets out of the 11th, several team state wide who can beat them (Holmes, Elliott, Shelby Valley and others).

I'd love to see one of the "mountain teams" win it this year. Shelby Valley or Elliott would be a great story.

Thank you. You beat me to that post. I couldn't understand how sprained ankles could heal when you're playing on them. Franklin is a very good team. Don't know about them winning their region because it is so tough in the 11th. But I wouldnt want tho play them in the Region tourney if I were SC or Station. If they defend like tonight they can compete with anyone. Defense wins championships.

WE sure did have a off night. Only scored 7 points in the 2nd quarter and 7 in the 3rd...can't win games that way.

We must have not been watching the same game. Zollo was hammered all night.

2nd and 3rd quarter really hurt us. #50...I assume that is Watkins was on fire tonight....does he always play this way?

Franklin Co I think only missed 3 foul shots all night...one of the best free throw shooting team I have seen. FC is a good team, good shot selection and solid shooters. One of the worst games I have seen GRC play this year. We started off great...then we couldn't throw it in the ocean.

Congrats to FC...best of luck the rest of the season.

Gold Sunrise you have seen GRC play more than I have. GRC is a very good team and I think the favorite to come out of the 10th region.

The difference in the game was defense. I said in the prediction thread that this would be the difference in the game, and I said it would be a toss up. In this game FC played the better defense when they made their run. My brother was keeping track and told me there was a stretch when FC held GRC to 15 points in 16 minutes starting in the second quarter and into the 2nd half. FC built a 16 point lead. FC made GRC take contested shots which are more difficult to make. This trend is in line with how they have played all year. I think they lead the 11th region in points scored by opponents, the sign of good defense. Good defense makes an opponent play bad.

The other thing County did well was they only turned the ball over three times the second half, which I also predicted as Meyer, Hall, and Hicks handle the ball well and make good decisions.

The off night for FC was Meyer being off from three. Before the game he was shooting 45% from three, but only hit one tonight.

I was impressed with Zollo, he works very hard in the post. Hatton proved how tough a kid he is. If GRC replaces Hatton and Williams sufficiently they will be scary the next two years.

Good luck to GRC, I hope you guys win the 10th.

GRC has been hit by the injury bug to its extreme all year. They keep on fighting through it all. They are not an easy out for anyone, however. Congrats to FC on the win. A quality win however you cut it.

To the GRC faithfull, your team played tough against a team that IMO has been underated by most throughout out the year. Nothing to hang your heads over IMO!

Franklin County

Watkins 15 points 10 rebounds

Meyer 14 points 3 rebounds 5 assists

Hall 10 points 5 rebounds 5 assists

Hicks 8 points 5 rebounds

Conner 8 points 4 rebounds

Donovan 3 points 4 rebounds

Jennels 3 points

McKee 3 points

Clark County

Hatton 22 points

Zollo 17 points 12 rebounds

Stenzel 13 points

Williams 4 points

Monster game for the OAK TREE!!! Best he has shot the three all year. We have seen this in the past but his three point shooting has been dormant so far this season. His coming out party is welcomed and a good sign for the post season. Nice job Oak!!!!! I think Centre's football coach liked what he saw as well.

Good post and I agree. I should have stated that last night, but was also trying to watch UK...which also lost. Defense does win ball games. You all did to us , what we did to Clay Co, took us out of our game, with your defense and you hit your free throws. As I stated before , best free throw shooting team I have seen all year.:thumb:

THis is what I love about this team. Rogers, 15 points and 10 rebounds a game is hard to replace, could have made the difference in the game.

If you are a b-ball fan, you had to love this kid last night. I felt the way the crowd was reacting, that he had not done this before. Congrats young , man.:thumb:

Best of luck FC, would love to see you pull the upsets and represent the 11th.

If they can get a favorable draw, this could very well happen.

No I wasn't very fond of him :lol:

Is 15 points 10 rebounds a night exaggerated? Wazoo said Stenzel is averaging 15 ppg and everything they run is through him. I would guess Zollo averages around 14 and 11. I could see the 10 rebounds/game happening for Rogers, but I don't see him averaging the same as Stenzel or definitely not more than Zollo.

He has not done that yet this year because he has not had the opportunity with those looks from three. Last night Watkins played much more because of foul trouble, got the open looks, knocked them down and stayed in because he got hot. He has always had touch and he has done this a few times last year. He is a crowd favorite like you stated. I believe his nickname is Clam Chowder because he is chunky and SMOOTH!!!

I spoke to Rogers and that was his high night and I believe he had 19 that game. He is capable of doing that but since almost all of GRC's offense is run through Stenzel and then Zollo I couldn't see his average being the same as or more than those two.

Could be if he is getting offensive put backs.

I have watched Clark Co. play 4 or 5 times this year and every game I seen Rogers was looked to much more than Zollo.

As far as Zollo is concerned I really like what I see with him. He plays hard and has a nice touch. Also he has big strong legs. I believe he will end up being really good in a couple years IMO.
