Franklin County 64 George Rogers Clark 56

Featured Replies

I have watched Clark Co. play 4 or 5 times this year and every game I seen Rogers was looked to much more than Zollo.

As far as Zollo is concerned I really like what I see with him. He plays hard and has a nice touch. Also he has big strong legs. I believe he will end up being really good in a couple years IMO.[/QUOTE]

I agree. He will definately get stronger, and he may grow a few more inches. He appears to look young in the face, in other words he doesn't have a full lumberjack beard like Euton.

If he gets around 6'10 he may be a big contibuter @ UK.

Is 15 points 10 rebounds a night exaggerated? Wazoo said Stenzel is averaging 15 ppg and everything they run is through him. I would guess Zollo averages around 14 and 11. I could see the 10 rebounds/game happening for Rogers, but I don't see him averaging the same as Stenzel or definitely not more than Zollo.

He has not done that yet this year because he has not had the opportunity with those looks from three. Last night Watkins played much more because of foul trouble, got the open looks, knocked them down and stayed in because he got hot. He has always had touch and he has done this a few times last year. He is a crowd favorite like you stated. I believe his nickname is Clam Chowder because he is chunky and SMOOTH!!!

No. I was told this was his average.

I spoke to Rogers and that was his high night and I believe he had 19 that game. He is capable of doing that but since almost all of GRC's offense is run through Stenzel and then Zollo I couldn't see his average being the same as or more than those two.

See post below. Also don't forget Robert Hatton. A few weeks ago he was our leading scorer, so all of the offensive does not just go throught Stenzel and Zollo.

Could be if he is getting offensive put backs.

Yes.

Roger played center and Zollo on the wing. Now that Rogers is out, Vinny moved to center and is now getting the looks and put backs that Rogers had.

I agree on Zollo, he is looking better each game, and just a Sophomore. I can see what Coach G saw in him.

Both are high ankel sprains..I saw them at school the other day. One had a knott that looked like a big orange on the side of his ankle. It was nasty looking. It will not be healed by the time post season is over....but he will still play. He has so much heart, you have to love the way he gives it all for his team.

In an early post someone questioned Robert Hatton's toughness,I disagree. He

made 3 point shots, his free throws, drove hard to the basket, dove to the floor, rebounded, and just hustled through out the game.He also led both teams

with 22 points. He is a little on the thin side, but his toughness no one should

question.

I knew in another thread someone questioined about Robert being a 3rd scoring options. Forgot it was you. Then we found out at that point he was our leading scorer... I agree, don't under estimate this kid, has the heart, guts and determination that makes his the leader of our team.

After reading all this about Clark's averages it seems they are similiar to FC with a very balanced attacked and shared scoring.

If you look at the stats on the KHSAA scoreboard Rogers is indeed averaging 15 and 10. It is very unfortunate for GRC that he is out with injury, and I hope he gets back for the post season, but we will never know what difference he would have made last night because he didn't play. Would you just add the 15 and 10 in GRC's stat columns? I don't think it works that way.

I think Watkins got them.

Of course not. With him playing it would change the whole complection of the game...guarding assignments, fouls, ect. As you said , we will never know. But I will add, that I would like our chances much better if he had of played.

I hope Rogers gets back so GRC has it's best chance to make it's best run in the post season. You guys have great fans that are passionate about the game and that's what I think helps make Ky high school basketball great. Hope you guys make it to Rupp!!!!

PGA for Hatton is 16.9, Stenzel is 15.7, Rogers is 13.8 and Zollo is 13.6.
