#188 Burgin Could Win State Title

Featured Replies

This is one of the best examples of how accurate it is to compare scores of previous games and opponents to cover all the "ifs and buts".

From "Fields Notes" February 12th: http://fieldsnotes.bloginky.com/

"It may be mixed-up math, but by comparing scores a case can be made that Burgin, which is No. 188 in Dave Cantrall’s Rating the State, just might have a chance at beating Scott County in the Sweet Sixteen finals and cutting down the nets in Rupp Arena on the night of March 21.

Just make your way through this maze of basketball results this season:

Holmes beat Scott County

Boone County beat Holmes

Trinity beat Boone County

Waggener beat Trinity

Campbellsville beat Waggener

Green County beat Campbellsville

Muhlenberg South beat Green County

Bath County beat Muhlenberg South

Menifee County beat Bath County

Burgin beat Menifee County

Presto! There you have it. An arithmetical argument that little ‘ol Burgin could win the state championship."

Hey, on any given night... right? :thumb:

I saw this in a thread somewhere.
Oops, sorry about that if it's a repeat... I just thought the humor might help keep things stable as the competition is picking up. :thumb:

It was just posted in a thread it wasn't a topic, I think they were relating it to the topic that was being discussed.:thumb:

Thats why they play em, i guess.

Why go the long way

Burgin over Mercer

Mercer over LCA

LCA over Tates Creek

Tates Creek over Bryan Station

Bryan Station over Holmes

Holmes over Scott Co.

Burgin does seem to have one of the best records for a 4 seed in the state, but I am sure because I know Donnie Irv, that story was done tongue-in-cheek.

I'm sure theres a way you could do this with a team like Burgin every year.

So what? Where has anyone on this list beat Elliott County, anyways? All the more proof as to who is number 1! :jump:

I like this, reminds me of the Micheal Jordan and Larry Bird in the McD's commercials, "Hey it could Happen."

Burgin over Mercer

Mercer over Lex Christian

LCA over Knott Cen.

Knott Cen over Shelby Valley

Shelby Vally over Elliott

That was even easier:banana:

Lots of time on your hands...

Hope so!!!!!!
