I guess it would be difficult to say if you don't know the exact formula used by the computer. Winning by large margins factors in in a big way typically with these computer polls.

 

I have said it before, the thing the computer cannot factor in is match-ups. All teams match-up differently.

 

I do think Elliott has a great team and I hope they make it to Rupp as I think a large number of neutral folks will get behind EC, and if they make a run the supporters will jump on board with each win. Rupp could get real loud!!!!

I really don't think individuals do as well at factoring in matchups as some think they do either. Just for example, how many times have you heard Elliott Co. can't run with this team or that team, but they most always end up running the game out.(not waving their banner,just an example).:thumb:

According to the Massey Ratings, Southside (SC) is the #1 team in South Carolina. They are a Class 2A school with a rating of 2.12, which would be good enough for #6 in Kentucky. Elliott beat Southside by 9 points.

 

Myrtle Beach (SC) has a ranking of 0.93, which would be good for 62nd in Kentucky. Elliott beat them by 7 points.

 

They lost to Cedar Hill, Texas by 10 points, which Massey says is the #4 team in all of Texas -- all classes. Their rating of 2.58 would make Cedar Hill the number one team in Kentucky.

 

Elliott also beat South Charleston, WV by 23 points at Bourbon County. Massey says South Charleston is the #1 team in West Virginia. Their 1.84 rating would make them ninth in Kentucky.

 

Elliott County has a 2.18 Massey rating, good for fifth in Kentucky.

This proves Elliott County has played good teams. Out of state or not, they are still good. This proves that Elliott's schedule has been good. BTW, Pickering was easily the second best team that EC played at the BBC.

Holmes is too low. Now, that I have said that, who cares about these rankings now? It is an opinion. A solid case can be made for Scott County, Holmes, Elliott County, Eastern and probably Shelby Valley depending on your point of view. The point is they are all good teams with each very capable of winning, or losing in Rupp.

In every post you always have negativity towards Elliott County. :confused: It really doesn't matter because it is a forum and they are all opinions.

As others have stated, it is pretty clear by this week's rankings that margin of victory is a big factor in Cantrall. I don't know the formula used. However, any program that gives any credit at all after winning by 20 is flawed. Once you beat a a team by 20, the difference beyond that is more a statement about the poor quality of the opponent than the ability of your team. There should be no more credit for winning by 40 or more than there is for winning by 20. I hope that is the case in Cantrall, Lit and any other ranking that factors in margin of victory.

Look, I am an Elliott County believer, not a doubter. The point of my post was that it is a computer calculation that ranks teams in the LIT and Cantrell ratings. I think they have a purpose and will indicate the strength of teams based on performance. They aren't perfect, but what poll is?

These rankings are as bad as the BCS that football uses! Doesn't mean anything, don't know why people argue about what a computer says, it can't watch the games and compare match ups and so on. We all know that Scott County is the definite #1 team in Kentucky. Elliott didn't even win the All A, they should not be #1. Top 5 Should be something like, Scott county #1, Holmes #2, Eastern #3, Shelby Valley #4, Elliott #5, but of course this is just my opinion though. Doesn't mean much though, the players still have to play the games. Good luck to all of them.
