State title contenders

Featured Replies

Elliott has thrown their hat into the ring now as a legitimate conteder, but to have Scott as the only absolute lock, when Holmes beat them head to head is a little puzzling.

Holmes

Scott Co

Eastern

Elliott

are the four teams I think with the best chance to win state. I was down on EC all season, but this week was one of the toughest weeks for any team in the state this season and this week was a heck of step in the right direction.

Those are 4 good picks, but I'm starting to believe there could be as high as 10 teams that could win it all. There's some really good teams out there.:thumb:

 I agree, I think?

 Thats why I said I ramble too much!

True, but honestly I'd be very surprised if the state champ doesn't come out of the bottom bracket and isn't Scott Co, Holmes, Elliott County, or Shelby Valley.

The winner of the match up between 7th and 13th regions should be considered a legitimate contender for state champ as well.

As an Elliott Co. fan, we will take it (the compliment that is), thanks!

If Eastern can make it out of the 7th, don't be suprised if they just keep on winning all the way to the finals while the bottom bracket is beating each other up. Then Eastern wins a close one on Sat. night to claim the big trophy.

Whoever wins the 7th should be on the road to Saturday night, I think the big confusion is the bottom bracket. I also think the 7th region and the 11th region will be the toughest 2 regional tournaments, so I am anxious to see who comes out of both. In the 11th you have a strong possibility that Scott Co. will make it out, in the 7th you have 3 teams that have an equally as good chance of beating each other. That tourny should be fun.

I have put in groups who I think has the best chances. It's still early, I didnt consider the brackets.

Group A, most likely to be playing in championship game:

Scott Co.

Group B, other teams with a good chance:

Eastern

Elliott Co

Holmes

Jeffersontown

Shelby Valley

Group C, teams that could if got hot or alittle luck:

Ballard

Bryan Station

Boone Co

Clark Co

Corbin

Group D, best of the rest in no order:

Mason Co

Lex Cath.

Warren Central

Christian Co

Dunbar

Franklin Co

Anderson Co

Mulenburg North

PRP

Bardstown

North Hardin

Adair Co

Male

No doubt I missed some.

I just feel bad for the top 3 groups, there are 11 teams listed and 7 of them are competing for 3 spots, the 9th region you have Holmes and Boone, the 7th region you have Jeffersontown, Eastern, and Ballard and in the 11th you have Scott Co, Bryan Station.

I believe there is 15 or 20 teams who have a shot at it. In Ky there is a lot of great teams and great coaches out there who are preparing their teams very well.

I think the team that is most likely to be in the state finals in the champion of the 7th region. The have the best draw in the State Tourney.

Whoever wins the 9th, 10th, & 11 have an extremely tough road to get there.

I perosonally think that Anderson County should be in group B or C, most likely C. I think they have a team that could get hot and make it to Sat. night. Probably wont happen, but they have a good shot.

I am still taking Holmes. I think they start getting on a role here come tourney time and they will not be stopped. They have showed everyone in the state that they can beat good teams just ask Scott Co. who was supposed to be head over heals better than everyone else. Just dont be surprised if Holmes wins it this year and next!

When the smoke clears, and I go get my popcorn and soda for session 8 after a great 4 days of relaxing, eating, and watching quality hoops, I think Scott County will be the team hoisting the trophy on Saturday night.
