I've read a bunch of criticisms from Ninth Region fans about "that lady ref", who is actually Lori Edgington, a 78 graduate of Holy Cross. I'm not gonna argue about her ability as a referee - although in the conversations I have had with her she has been generally complimentary of Holmes, particularly Rico, in spite of what some posters might perceive.

 

For reasons that are too complicated to go into, I had an old newspaper article from 1978 where she was mentioned and I thought some BGP'ers might find it interesting - if for no other reason to print out and paste her picture on a voodoo doll. (I thought it was pretty interesting that she scored 28 ppg - she went on to play at UK), but I was surprised to see the Holy Cross girls referred to as "Squaws" - do they still use that?

Holy gender bender - you're right - I bet their mascot requires a lot of therapy to address sexual identity and orientation issues.

Lori Edgington could have averaged 50 a game and she would still be a terrible ref. I dare anyone to show me someone who would say she does a good job!!

She does a good job.

My comments were directed more toward the perception that she is biased against Holmes - I don't think she is. Whether she is competent or not is not an issue I would take up. I do know that, at least as far as referring girls games go, she is/was considered to be one of the top referees in northern Kentucky and worked the state tournament. Honestly I haven't seen her work enough boys games to make a call - pun intended.

I hate to be critical, she is not good.

I have seen her in action as a ref more than once this season and I am throughly convinced that she means good, and she gives it her all, and she is a really good person, but she still can't ref. hahahaha

What's up with that??? Smells a little sexist if you ask me. She'd probably kick any of your butts in a game of 1 on 1 and until any of you are refs... then she a better ref than any of you. Kudos to her for getting out there and busting her tail and for having a 'set' that most of you obviously don't to ref a guys game. Go Lori. :thumb:
