Oldrambler, you are more than welcome. I am just happy to report the news of our beloved Rams. They really seem to be getting the concept of how important it is to work hard and to represent the orange and black. 2008 will be hard to live up to and quite frankly, they shouldn't play with that pressure on them. All the 2009 team needs to do is work hard everyday and practice hard and focus on weekly goals. They have to be mature enough not to worry about games further down the schedule and play whoever the opponent is that week. If we can get them to stay focused and play hard, who knows where we'll end up this year. I have the State Championship date already scheduled off in my office and fully expect us to be playing that day at 11am in Bowling Green.

I don't know if they have set a hard date yet, it will probably depend on how long it takes to get their 9 practices in with the weather. I would hazard a guess of next Friday.

As long as this Ram picks up that same work ethic as the 08' Rams and bust their cans every day and continue working hard in the weight room, leave all they got everyday on the practice field and out on the field in the games this fall, in the classroom and in the community then everything will take care of itself.

Also, on a side note it is great to have Raceland Teacher and former asst. football coach (bgp's Ram played under him at Raceland I believe) Sgt. Major Wendell Morris is home (last night) from a 12 mo. tour of duty in Afghanistan with the 201st enginering battalion. This (Coach Morris's return) is an even better and more important example in the large scheme of things called life of Ram Pride. A thread on this is posted in the general discusion forum. I thought that I might mention it over here in case some of our Raceland people (and others) do not get over there (gen. disc.) very often.

You are right oldrambler, it is great to have Coach Morris back, he is an asset to Raceland Schools, the Raceland community, and to the country as a whole. I believe he has over 30 years of experience helping to defend this country, between active duty and time in the Guard duty. A great man, a great role model, a great teacher, and a great friend.

Spring is in the air and before long school will be out. You Juniors, soon comes the title of senior and leader. This is your last Spring football season you'll have in your Raceland career! Enjoy it and get ready to add to Ram history and tradition. The bar has been set even higher the past few years, so go and raise it 2 more notches, if you know what I mean!

I received an e-mail today that said the Touchdown Club meeting has been cancelled until further notice.

Not only has Spring practice started, but several of the players are going through the F.A.S.T. program to increase speed and agility after practice starting tonight. Last year there were 18 players that did this. I haven't heard the totals for this year.

2 extra hours of agility and speed drills a week for 6-8 weeks. It is a lot of drills wearing weighted vests, cone drills, ladder drills and a lot of the same things done for NFL combine workouts. We had 18 kids in it last year, I am not sure how many are currently doing it and how many will do it after baseball. I always try to coordinate it to maximize attendance. It is great conditioning to do right before team camp and two-a-days if it works out on the schedule. This is not a school function. The kids do it voluntarily and on their own time.:thumb:
