He can try to post Ives up, but honestly I don't see it happening. Ives is a pretty physical player. Also I look for CCH to play different zones and force HC to beat them from outside which will make it even tougher for Giwa to post up.

 

I'd expect to see CCH play 1-3-1, box and 1, and a little 2-3 with some man mixed in here and there.

 

If they play a zone Trimpe could light them up from 3.

I would whole-heartedly disagree with you... as would Rick Schumate which is why Romes guards every team's best player.

 

Bottom line is Ives couldn't stop Giwa in the post the same way Romes couldn't.

One thing that most won't expect is HC trying to take advantage of Giwa in transition. If CovCath misses shots the Indians will look to get it ahead to Giwa and let him push to try to get a 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 situation in the open court where he thrives. When CovCath scores Holy Cross will still slow it down and be very patient, but I see them utilizing the fast break more often tomorrow night when it's there.

I don't know that Giwa has his way. I'd say he gets his typical 15-20 but his non-existent outside shot keeps him from dominating.

He may be top notch guarding DIII kids but honestly he wasn't too impressive against either Rico of Holmes or Kowolonek of Highlands on the defensive end. Rico had his way with him and Kowolonek (when he actually got the ball), got in the lane at will as Romes was a step to slow.

On a side note, how much is CCH going to be missing Thelen in this game? IMO having him would give CCH the win with no doubt in my mind, as nobody from HC would be able to handle him down low.

Are you kidding about the Kowolonek statement? He had him locked up all night. Most of Kowolonek's eight came off of Grote getting into the lane and Romes helping so he'd dish to Kowolonek.
