mcpapa Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 First-place votes in parentheses, total points follow. Looks like SV's performance in the All-A impressed the voters; Scott's close loss to Holmes not so much. 1. Holmes (12) 156 2. Scott County (2) 143 3. Eastern 113 4. Jeffersontown 96 5. Shelby Valley (2) 85 6. Ballard 70 7. Elliott County 56 8. Bryan Station 49 9. Mason County 30 10. Corbin 29 11. South Laurel 10 12. Christian County 9 T13. Bardstown 7 T13. Franklin County 7 15. Clay County 6 16. Seneca 5 17. Lexington Catholic 4 T18. Hazard 1 T18. Boone County 1 T18. Bowling Green 1 T18. Dunbar 1 T18. Warren Central 1
Eta Rho Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I'd say the top 10 are pretty dead on. Only thing I'd change is I'd put Bryan Station in front of Elliott Co.

They only beat Hazard by the score of 61-36 . What a joke.
Log Mountain Boy Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009  I think GRC got shafted on this one. They only beat Hazard 20 points. What a joke. One thing to consider though is the Rogers factor. He was having a great season until he got hurt. I believe that takes a lot away from Clark Co. even though they have a good team still yet. I believe Franklin is a top 10 team.

Their only losses have come to two of the top teams in NY with one of them being nationally ranked at #16 (James-Dewitt) and their only two in state losses are to #1 Holmes, also ranked nationally, and #2 Scott Co. They own a win over #8 Mason Co as well.

Titleist1 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I'm sure there are a lot of people on here that think Shelby Valley should be ranked #1 in the state. I think we all know who I'm talking about...

I think we all know who I'm talking about... Shelby Valley has a nice team but not close to the number 1 team in the state. Winning the Class A is nice but you will find the competition level in the sweet 16 will be much different and much tougher.

d-dawg Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Some people just don't understand talent level . Except for Elliott co, Bardstown and Shelby Valley, that had to be the worse group of teams of any Class A tournament that has ever been.
BLT Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 The HOOK is well aware of the competition level at Rupp Arena and the sweet sixteen. We should know we have been there the past 2 years and hope to return soon.:thumb::thumb::thumb:
mcpapa Posted February 3, 2009 Author Posted February 3, 2009 If it were me (but they don't ask): 1. Holmes 2. Scott County 3. Eastern 4. Ballard 5. Jeffersontown 6. Franklin County 7. Bryan Station 8. Shelby Valley 9. Elliott County 10. Mason County I pay zero attention to the "1-point getters". Not that they're not good teams, but someone may have an agenda to get a team some face time. You have to remember that the AP only allows for folks to vote for 10 teams. We saw on another thread that Ryan Ernst voted Boone County 10th on his ballot. Hence, their single point, as obviously no one else had them on their list. Which can explain why teams like Boone County, Hazard, Bowling Green, etc. appear on the list. Maybe all 16 voters would have had Clark County, for example, 11th on their list. But 11th and $1.89 gets you a gallon of gas here in Maysville. If you ask me, Clark County has actually solidified their spot in the Top 20 by winning 9 of their last 10, the last being a 10-point win over Scott.

They're really hurt'in right now due to injuries.

I don't think it's far fetched to believe that someone still thought Warren Central was #10 (no matter how misguided that might be), which is why they got a single point, and I assume Bowling Green got a vote by virtue of their victory over Warren Central. Their only loss in over a month was to Warren Central.
