For the truly obese (and that's who I'm advocating) walking any distance is a problem. Many of the obese have severe breathing problems brought on by the sheer amount of weight. So, we can't simply say "walk farther." In many cases, they can't.

 

Yes and for alot of them that don't have a condition that's causing their obesity other than shere laziness and poor diet, it's not walking alot that got them into their situation. If they have some reason causing the obesity such as a medical condition then that's a whole other story. For those that are just lazy and can't controll their eating habits I feel no pitty for, and am quite frankly disgusted by them. If someone can't controll what they put in their body then that's just pitiful.

From what I am hearing on here I don't much doubt that. It seems to me that all we have on BGP is perfect people. Oh to be in that perfect that so many people can make such hateful judgements on people. Judgements on people that some of these posters don't even know.

 

If anyone wants to know why I don't fit into some posters "perfect world", please ask me. If anyone wants to know if I am filling up my grocery cart by using government funds - just follow me from my job and watch me deposit my paycheck.

To be honest, I'm not overweight and I feel pretty confident in myself for the most part, but the things people are saying in this thread offend me because I take it personal for anyone to say the nasty things some people in here said when I have family members who are overweight and have health problems that lead to it. I watch my family members suffer constantly doing whatever they can to lose the weight, and for people to come on here and make disrespectful comments about people they don't even know or take the time to know is hurtful. My mom might be a little bit bigger than what is considered perfect, but she is gorgeous. And for anyone to be "disgusted" by her makes me want to punch them in their string bean little behind. And I really wish some of these people would say these things to my dads face. Guarantee they wouldn't have the guts to when they saw him.

 

By the way, I'm sure youre gorgeous too, and I wouldn't give a hoot what these perfect people think.

The thing is, some of the people making these comments don't like themself/are insecure themselves. Anytime you make a negative comment about anyone else it's because on some level you're insecure about something having to do with YOU. I think everyone could use your confidence .

I have no problem with the (rare) person who has a thyroid problem or who has weight issues due to medications. My problem is with the lazy people who don't care enough about themselves to even try to lose weight. This is a "sizable" portion of the obese population.

 

As you well know, I'm not speaking as some pious thin person. I AM one of those overweight people. But I take responsibility for my failings, and I'm finally doing something about it. As for the parking issue, if I was just an overweight person, I could not even fathom asking for a disabled parking permit.

Guess it depends on the situation. Like I said, people without self controll that are obese I have little respect for, and I'm not saying over weight, but literally obese. Sorry if I think that people should be capable of taking care of themselves better, I don't know why I have such high expectations for people.:idunno:
