How could you say Holmes didn't play sloppy? Anyone who has seen them more than once (which I'm going to assume the majority hasn't) knows they were horrible handling the ball tonight, Pittman in particular. They also had I believe 4 straight possessions where they had offensive fouls/violations called on them (with a 16 point lead) which allowed HC to close within 9.

 

Also I wouldn't be so sure that Giwa is a lot quicker than anyone that Holmes could put on him. How many of his points came off of free throws? I know for a fact his first 7 did. The HC coach had to make a switch defensively because he couldn't guard Riley early on.

 

I just have to wonder what you were watching. The first half, the other Holy Cross guard, Lea I believe, guarded Riley along with whom ever subbed with him, and Giwa guarded D. Johnson, or Housely when he came in. In the second half, Giwa was switched to Riley(who had a big first half) maybe looking to shut him down better. Giwa was never guarding Riley early on.

Did they win....no. They were down by as much as 19....they never got any closer than 9 and then Holmes opened it up again. Holmes is better than them by far. The fact of the matter is HC is not making it to the regional...period.

IMO:Holy Cross will lose to Beechwood and CovCath. This would make them the 4th seed and have to play Holmes again...which means a definite loss and no regional tourney.

I understand you saying that you think BHS, and CovCath will beat Holy Cross. Just don't know how you can say that HC doesn't have a chance at all, that's all. If there was a year for HC to make it to the regional, this would be the one IMO.

What does it matter if Holmes wins all the 9th region games by a average margin of 8 points or 18 points?? Bottom line is the score when the time clock hits 0:00. Guess some of the other teams can get some satisfaction like we played them to within 7, 13, or whatever. Much like us Elliott fans against Mason in the state tournament last year. Shoulda, Coulda, whata, but in the end we were down 4 points when the clock hit 0:00. There is some consolation in we played them close, but nothing like the one of being ahead when the time on the clock is finished.

 

Probably Holmes will have a few more close games in the 9th region which is a very tough region IMO. But, I don't think they will lose in the 9th region this year. Probably be in the final game on March 21st in Rupp. Against who I don't know (probably know who I hope is their opponent). Probably is the operative word here with HS kids and the fact that all it takes is one disastrous quarter and you're done or some riduculous shot at the buzzer.

The problem is you take reasonable statements and make them a little ridiculous and state them as fact. There's a great chance that HC will lose to both of those teams and end up with the 4 seed. There's also a great chance that they beat one of them. They could possibly beat both, although I don't see it happening. You are out of your mind to think that there is no way that they could ever beat Bwood or CCH this year.

Holmes then took Riley and Housely out for Herndon and Hayes. (All 5 JV). HC then got a lay up from Giwa to close within 17 and then HC's coach put in all 5 JV kids because that's when McClendon came in for Jones. HC's last 5 points came against the JV.

I ask you this...if HC played ANYONE else in the region and trailed by double figures the whole game, outside of one quarter, and were down 17 with 10 seconds left, would you still consider the final margin as being a close game, just because an HC JV player made a 3 as time ran down to make it a 14 point game?

I think you might be right now that I think about it.

 

My point is, for the HC fans saying the game was close as the score might indicate is off base. I wouldn't exactly call being down 17 with 10 seconds left close. If not for a big 3rd quarter in which HC made 4 of their 5 3 point fg's, this game is even worse.

Was headed to the game that shows on the scoreboard as starting at 745 and called PPaw to see where he was sitting to be told the game was almost over at 7pm. Nice work on the scheduling. I am guessing the girls game was after the boys game. I hope one day people will realize that not many people want to watch the girls games and quit doing this stupid scheduling. I'm guessing that 3/4 of the gym left after the boys game..I'm tired of living in a PC world...I'm done venting now
