I was watching the same game you were d1, and I was simply saying that when I observed the game, Bryan was messing with the wrong Beechwood players. I was simply saying that I would enjoy watching him try and get away with what he did to several Beechwood players on the football field being that he weighs about 140-150 pounds and trying to get cheap shots on guys like Romes (185 lbs.) and Daniels (210 lbs.) I've seen Beechwood's football team rally around eachother when someone from another team cheapshots or tries to get their licks in after the play is over and whoever tries it gets repaid on the next play. I hope the basketball team responds this way.

 

That is what a player should expect when they are guarding one very tightly. Without a doubt it is very good defense, but the other player is going to be shoving and elbowing you back when that's how they are going to have to get open night in and night out. Basketball is a physical sport and most the time the players have respect for each other and know it's just part of the game. That's why there are no retalliations usually. Now, I wasn't at the game, but from what I have read on this thread it doesn't sound like Bryan was cheapshotting at all, but instead just being physical.:thumb:

Lol really? Get over it. That's the most ridiculous thing I've read. This isn't football it's basketball. You don't retaliate. What does football have to do with this at all? I really doubt Romes or Daniels minded at all they're big boys, so why are you whining about this?

And I brought up football because he WOULD NOT pull what he does on the basketball court on a football field and if he did he wouldn't get back up on the next play. The point is he runs his mouth and pushes and shoves and makes an absolute fool of himself because he has NOTHING to back up his actions. I can't figure out why everyone is so high on Bryan. Reminds me of Buckler from Bellevue, stating in an interview that Bellevue would beat Beechwood in football, yeah that didn't happen and he had about 20 yds. against them. Similar to Bryan.

I would say Bryan has a little bit to back it up averaging 35 ppg. and I believe leading the state in it.

This whole thing is crazy. Why do some people continue to use this site to bash kids who are just out playing the game. Many of you make this a little too personal. I've seen Bryan play, and yes, he has an attitude out there, wouldn't you. Every night out he gets double teamed and pushed all around. What do you want him to do, just sit back and take it. Villa is a tiny school and takes any player that wants to come out and be on the team. Bryan has talent, and is one of the only ones on that team with a little strength to him. If he backs down or doenst play physical, no one will. Other teams have to worry about something when they play Villa and Bryan is that something. If he played for Cov Cath or Boone County, no one would say a word about the way he plays. It's just because he is the focus of everyone in the gym that gets him all this attention. I felt bad for him the times I have seen him. At that program, he doesn't have the opportunity of playing the game like other players at other schools do. He has to work twice as hard for his team to have a chance.

 

Now I don't know what he is like on a personal level. Maybe he is a punk, maybe he is a nice kid. But at the end of the day, he is a junior in high school, playing basketball and trying to help out a not so elite program. He works extremely hard trying to help his team win. It's not his fault he is under a microscope every night.
