January 7, 200917 yr Author I can understand holding him to his contract, but there are other ways besides firing. Does the standard coach's contract forbid them from interviewing elsewhere?
January 7, 200917 yr If that's his stance good luck finding a competent HC to ever take the job while he's in charge... It's still a good job in a BCS conference. No trouble finding a competent HC. Does it change anyone's mind if Jago didn't inform the AD of the interview? The AD is on record as saying he wants someone who will stay long-term (which might not be totally realistic) but I think he was just upset by not being told about it.
January 8, 200917 yr He supposedly promised to give BC at least 3 years before moving on. He was warned that if he interviewed for this job he would be fired. I realize it puts Flipo in a precarious situation but I admire him for sticking to his guns.

Had a Coach one time, who often said "Plain talk, is easily understood".

When you're a college head coach with NFL experience and an NFL team wants you to interview for their head coaching job, it's kind of tough to just say "no thanks." It makes me think the AD wanted to make a change for some other reason ...

With that said, when the boundary lines are defined, one must make that decision.

January 8, 200917 yr How many schools would construct such a boundary?I've been trying to think back, once I first heard this and I couldn't recall any. If I was the Coach and this statement was made, I would be inclined to believe like you and feel the AD, may had another direction he was going. Seems I remember some Professional teams, not granting permission but nothing like this.
