Amazing to me that the Colts can have a back like LT (he'll be back - he's trying to play through a very tough injury), who they had backed up with Turner the past few years, and also Sproles. Three very good backs.

The Chargers need to thank their punter for this game. Manning oculd never get comfortable because he was standing in his own endzone all game. He had 4 punts inside the 10 and averaged 56 yards/punt. If I had to give a player of the game, it would be him. If that last punt is punted in the endzone intead of the 2, I 100% believe the Colts win that game.

Yeah they just got beat by the 2nd Hottest Team in SD.

I keep forgetting that the division winners get a home game regardless of records...that's a ridiculous rule. It's bad enough that an 8-8 team makes the playoffs over an 11-5 squad, but to get a home game against a team that is 12-4 just because they won the weakest division in football.

 

Note to the commish: I can live with the division winner thing, but for goodness sake can we at least go by records when we're seeding the playoff teams and awarding home games.

 

So, never mind my prediction. The game being on the West Coast changes things quite a bit in my mind.

Frankly, I am thankful that the Steelers can't play the Ravens until the AFC Championship game if either make it that far. I fear them most of all. And if Miami beats them today, the Dolphins and J.Porter make their return to P'burgh. If the Ravens win, it's San Diego making the trip. I'd choose either over the Ravens if I had the choice.

 

Terrific game to watch. Rivers did a good job of simply getting rid of it when there was nothing all game long. And what can you say about Sproles? They showed a graphic of the all time all-purpose playoff leaders in a game, I wonder how his total ended up. Anyone have that one?

I'm really hoping Miami beats Baltimore today, because I'd much rather see the Chargers in Nashville next weekend. Like you, Baltimore scares me far more than any of the other teams playing on the opening weekend.

It doesn't matter. I'm glad San Diego won. I'd much rather face them than Indianapolis...now, if Miami can take care of Baltimore...

 

But since people like to point out when I'm wrong, I'll go ahead and pat myself on the back for predicting Peyton to win the MVP two months ago when everybody else was saying Warner, Brees, Favre, et al....and, for picking the Chargers to win the the AFC West when they were sitting at 4-7...

I'm proud of the way the Chargers played. Defense was outstanding. Never thought we would win this one without V. Jackson catching a ball. I watched the game from a hospital bedroom (getting tested for C-PAP). When Sproles ran in the game-winner, I "whooped" so loud that I woke up two other sleep apnea patients.

 

If we can get just a bit better pass protection out of McNeill and Clary, I really like our chances against either Pittsburgh or Tennessee. Of the two, I'd rather play Pittsburgh. Chris Johnson and Bo Scaife scare me for the Titans.

They played tough. Sproles was amazing...seems like somebody mentioned him in the prediction thread, but I can't remember who it was. :sssh:

 

The NFL is really amazing...a team that was 4-8 a few weeks ago is two games away from making a trip to the Super Bowl, and from what we've seen in recent NFL seasons, it shouldn't surprise any of us if they end up making it.

 

No outcome could surprise me from this point on...honestly.

I was right about one thing regarding this game...LT's health didn't hurt the Chargers. If anything, it helped. If Tomlinson had been healthy enough to carry the load, I seriously doubt he'd have come close to doing what Sproles did...and I seriously doubt that Sproles would have got the touches to do what he did.
