January 4, 200917 yr I'm not sure how the death of a man's child got to a debate over incarceration policies in the United States. Dr. Dre has become a member of an exclusive club, no parent wants to join. My heart aches for him regardless of the circumstances surrounding his death.

January 4, 200917 yr Being an addict is horrible. Until you have stayed awake for days on end with an addict, helping them cope with the withdrawl sickness and everything involved with being sick, one can not really grasp just how nasty it is being an addict. It is easy to judge someone and chastise them for being a drug abuser, (I have been guilty of this as well) but if you have ever had someone close to you become a drug abuser, I am sure you will have a different perspective of the disease and the individuals that are affected. I have someone close to me who is an addict ( currently getting treatment) and have experienced the consequences that occur because of it. It not only affects the abuser but also everyone around them. The person that is an addict is not the same person that you knew before the addiction took control of their lives. The drug controls everything they think or do. It is total chaos. My prayers go out to Dr. Dre and his family and I pray to God I never have to experience the emotions that he is going through.

Thank you for your personal story, cvillecat. It provides us with a good example of how people shouldn't judge and dismiss others unless they have been in the same situation. I'm pretty sure that God still loves the drug abuser, just not the action.

I disagree, there's a choice, you aren't born a drug addict. Does it become something that they can't realistically controll, sure, but they aren't born that way. It's a choice, and if you choose to use, I feel no pitty. Call me a jerk call me cold hearted, I've had best friends die from the junk and was there for them as much as I could be until the end. I don't feel bad for dumb people that make dumb choices though.
January 5, 200917 yr Thank you for your personal story, cvillecat. It provides us with a good example of how people shouldn't judge and dismiss others unless they have been in the same situation. I'm pretty sure that God still loves the drug abuser, just not the action. You are welcome. Maybe this story will help deter someone else from becoming an addict. It is a tough story to tell and one that I thought I would never experience. The things that are involved with the actions of the abuser while they are high or chasing their addiction is unbelievable. It is as if there is another person inside them that controls their every thought. Not only are the drugs a problem but when a person is an addict they are involved with other activities that only cause the problems to fester. The person I mentioned is in a daily battle to conquer their problem and is making a sincere effort to correct it. I will be in the fight until the end. You are correct, God will not give up on this person, nor will I.

Great story cville and great post. Like I said earlier, I realize that I went on probably too much and I was speaking my feelings on the dealers that supply and sell this crap. Those are the ones (kingpins/suppliers and dealers) that I have NO USE for at all.

I don't feel bad for dumb people that make dumb choices though. I will refuse to call you names as you suggested as it is against BGP rules. You may disagree all you want. That is your opinion and right to do so. I never stated that anyone was born an addict but since you mentioned it I will inform you that some are born addicts. There are many dope sick babies that are born addicts because their mother was a drug user while pregnant. I also understand that an individual has a choice and for every choice we make, whether right or wrong there is a price we must pay. It is not up to me to judge them. Someone with far greater abilities than I will be doing that job. Like I stated in my earlier post. I can assure you that if the addicted person was a parent, spouse, son or daughter your thought process would differ from what you stated in your above post. Comparing decisions made based on best friends or family members is different from night and day, at least for me anyway. Every person reacts differently to every situation so you can coose to feel and make decisions any way you wish. Thats on you. I chose to help the individual I mentioned fight and beat their addiction and refuse to profile them in any category. Sorry for the loss of your friends and I will pray for their families.
January 5, 200917 yr Who's joking chief. Once they're dead, I don't think it matters how we dispose of them. Get off that high horse. I'm not the chief of anything. And I don't ride horses. So you are telling me that you are SERIOUSLY suggesting that we kill all drug dealers? Seriously?
January 5, 200917 yr I'm not the chief of anything. And I don't ride horses. So you are telling me that you are SERIOUSLY suggesting that we kill all drug dealers? Seriously? Repeat offenders selling hard core drugs, I wouldn't lose any sleep. They're responsible for taking several other lives and after given so many opportunities thrown to the side, I'd be ok with it.
January 10, 200917 yr I juist came back and brought this one up again to say that I was wrong. I certainly will get on people/situations and blast some over whatever the subject may be when I feel strongly about something. I also feel that I can be big enough to aplogize in that I ma have offended some people with my comments. I guess what got me to thinking about this thread again was watching the "Josh Hamilton...homecoming" special tonight on espn. I remember taking up for and praising Hamilton on a couple of threads in pro sports about his battle back to MLB and away from drug and alcohol abuse. I have judged way too harshly on some on this thread. I still feel that there should be very severe punishment/sentences w/o parole for the drug "suppliers" and the top dealers of this junk. I also believe in compasion for a drug user/abser that wants to come clean and straighten their life up, imo the key phrase is that "they have to want to do it" and be serious about it. Then I believe that a person/persons should help n any way they can. Another "have to" imo (and I am not going to get into a sermon) is that the person needs to ask God to come into their life and help them and he most certainly will. So, I was wrong in "clumping" all in one group and I will say I was wrong.
