Mr. 11th, I think your right. And I think there's some validation for why Manual should remain top 10. Again though, you can't get a loan on a ranking. It holds zero value. You've got to win games and stay healthy.

When you take the court, Manual does indeed have the ability to beat anyone in the state, especially with Jenkins 100% ready to play. I believe you know that. Manual would be the underdog against Holmes, but don't use December as a gauge when it comes to playing future games. What would Holmes be like without Pittman or Riley?

When Pittman has been in foul trouble and sat out 2 combined quarters of a game (Beechwood, Ballard), Holmes has still been able to stay ahead by just as much as if he were playing. Same with Riley. Arnold is good enough to step in and give enough quality play for them to still be a top team. Can't say the same about Manual without Jenkins.

Unfortnately, the best case psynario to show what Manual is capable of is a preseason game where Jenkins was healthy and led Manual to a blowout win over the 5th/3rd champions Lexington Cath. Jenkins will be closer to 100% next week and January will be a much better period for the Crimson.

Yes they were, but according to your opinion on teams deserving a top 20 ranking it would be impossible to create any type of top 20 ranking because almost all teams don't even play a top 5 team. That is why I mentioned Shelby Valley, Christian County and Corbin. If a team must play a top 5 team close to be a top 20 team, then how could anyone ever form any sort of ranking at all? Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Shelby Valley, Christian County, Corbin, Owensboro, or Warren Central will play a top 5 team in the whole season. These teams could be top 20 teams but according to you none of them are deserving because they haven't played a top 5 close because they don't even play a top 5 team at all.

Honestly, the close game with Jeffersontown without Jenkins is a better indication of Manual's capability. I don't know many people that put a whole lot of credibility in scrimmage results.

My understanding is that the BGP rankings were done before the post-Christmas tournaments began. I suspect there will be a lot of changes based on the results of the past few days.

I was simply stating that you could take away a player from Holmes and they have someone that can step in because they have more than one "star" whereas Manual only really has 1 with Jenkins.

 

With Jenkins in the lineup and healthy, Manual is no doubt a top 10 team. My point originally though, was in reply to your comment where you said Manual would beat ANYONE that was ranked #1. I just disagreed with that statement.

Scott Co. lost to Franklin Co. (GA) during a holiday tournnament in South Carolina. When the Herald-Leader printed the game score they left out the "(GA)" part, thus the confusion.

Oh, thanks. I never really looked into it, I only saw Franklin Co. beats Scott Co. so.... But Franklin Co. should be ranked if Clark Co. is ranked 16th.

Just saw where Owensboro was beaten by Cov Cath. Yes, Cov Cath is traditionally a great program. I know their point guard has had some unfortunate health problems, but didn't they start 0-5 this season. They are a bit down this season.

If CovCath had beaten a full-strength Owensboro club, you might have a point ... they didn't.
