So, if Franklin County wins at Holmes, they should be number 1. Is that your implication?

I would say most people should know for sure now. But when they play Holmes on Jan. 16th how will you measure if they are? With a win? A close loss? Franklin will be without 2 of the top 6 players because Hicks and Watkins have both been chosen to play in the KY football all-star games. Even without the two I don't think Holmes will blow them out. But, if they did get blown out missing these players would that prove them not a top 20 team. I would think not considering Holmes is a consensus top 5 team. So I disagree with you about this game alone deciding FC's ranking. FC plays plenty other tough games and IMO they easily rate top 10 in the state in schedule strength.

No, absolutely not. The game will only indicate just how good a team they really are and should they be deserving of a top twenty ranking. Since we have been told time and again just how good Holmes is, we can then determine Franklin County's right of a top 20 ranking based on them winning or just making a game of it. My post was responding to the question of whether or not Franklin County is deserving of a top twenty ranking.

:thumb: Franklin County also plays: @ Bullitt East (win), Butler @PRP (win), Mason County @Bourbon Cty. (win), @ Shelby County, @ Holmes, @ Montgomery County, Scott County, Tates Creek, Central Hardin, @ Madison Central, GRC and Anderson County + other 11th region and district teams. I don't see the Holmes game as being that pivotal.

You are my man Doc!!!!

OK here is my Spin on it Doc.

Top 5, I cannot disagree. A couple of those teams could be switched but its not worth arguing as you could easily flip a coin. Holmes does deserve #1.

# 6 manual should be much lower based on performance. Yes Jenkins has been out, but he's back. Is BGP leaving them up at #6 based on what they could do or what they have done?

Based on performance, I would probably put Eastern at #6, or better.

Dunbar is legit.

Ballard, I think is too high.

Christian County is way overrated.

Hazard has some quality wins, but didn't they just get waxed in the Catholic tourney. Too high!!!!

I like Shelby Valley's team, probably about right.

Corbin is playing in a weak region. Who have they beaten?

Lex Cath, might be about right at 14, although I think they get a lot of play in the rankings based on their name and tradition.

Trinity, is a good team but a bit over hyped.

Clark County, beaten by Madison Central, and waxed by LC. I think they might be a year away from all the build up they are getting.

The next two, Owensboro and Male are traditionally good programs, and that very well could be the reason they get mentioned here.

Moore plays in a tough region, honestly I have not seen them play.

Warren Central plays in a weak region, and I definitely think they are ranked here based on the tradition of their program.

That is terrible reasoning. If a team has to beat or play a top 5 team close (which I think FC will anyway) how do you place Shelby Valley, Christian County, Manual, and Corbin so high. And how do you put Owensboro, Moore, and Warren Central in the ranking?

Give it a rest. Whos said anything about Boone? You did. Top 5 look good, but teams like Manual and Hazard are both ranked too high, considering their recent results.

Agreed, but do you really want play Manual when they are at full strength? It's coming.

Everyone has been ready to see what's coming since Jenkins was born, but how long will it be before it happens?

Most teams are close to 10 games into the season....essentially 1/3 of the season. Granted not the critical part, but records to this point should be the basis for the rankings, not potential IMO.

Point well taken, but when your missing a player like Manual has in Jenkins it does count. And the first third of the season is not nearly as important as the final third. You could rank them whereever you wish, but the fact will remain that they could defeat any team you put at #1.

I usually agree with you, but not sure I agree with you here. Scott Co, Holmes, J'town, and Bryan Station would all 4 beat Manual and be tough games for them IMO. All 4 of those teams have atleast 3 options offensively whereas Manual really only has Jenkins and Samsel is streaky.

I never mentioned Shelby Valley, Christian County, Manual or Corbin, my comments were limited to Holmes and Franklin County only!

Just saw where Owensboro was beaten by Cov Cath. Yes, Cov Cath is traditionally a great program. I know their point guard has had some unfortunate health problems, but didn't they start 0-5 this season. They are a bit down this season.

Yes they were, but according to your opinion on teams deserving a top 20 ranking it would be impossible to create any type of top 20 ranking because almost all teams don't even play a top 5 team. That is why I mentioned Shelby Valley, Christian County and Corbin. If a team must play a top 5 team close to be a top 20 team, then how could anyone ever form any sort of ranking at all? Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Shelby Valley, Christian County, Corbin, Owensboro, or Warren Central will play a top 5 team in the whole season. These teams could be top 20 teams but according to you none of them are deserving because they haven't played a top 5 close because they don't even play a top 5 team at all.

When you take the court, Manual does indeed have the ability to beat anyone in the state, especially with Jenkins 100% ready to play. I believe you know that. Manual would be the underdog against Holmes, but don't use December as a gauge when it comes to playing future games. What would Holmes be like without Pittman or Riley?
