Highlands' freshman standout players from 2008

Featured Replies

I don't know about Turkey Foot but yes it is the same Jake True from the Kenton County area. His parents moved to Ft Thomas before his freshman year and are renting a house in town. They are currently saving an old victorian home located in the south end of town. I have talked to Jake's dad on several occasions and he has said it is the smartest Move he has ever made. They are here for quite some time and we are glad they are here.:thumb:

Little brother Nick is a 7th grader and 6'4 200lbs and told me he could get to 6'8 by next year. :scared:

Goodness! I would take him put him at TE and watch him get a D1 schorlarship.

My mom lives a couple houses down from the one the True's are renovating and has spoken with the parents also and said they made it point to say how much their boys love HHS. I could be mistaken but I believe one of the parents grew up in Ft. Thomas, mom could be wrong though!

I did hear that Nick is moving up to Freshman next year to give him more experience when the time comes. He is a beast...

If he can develop a killer instinct he will be very very good. He has a great demeanor and very friendly kid. I dont think he has grown into his body yet but once he does watch out. If older brother Jake can keep working him over even better, only makes you tougher. LOL

This is from someone that saw all of the freshman games and attended about 90% of the practices I offer my opinion about those players not mentioned in this thread.

Luke Dressman, good agressive kid, good speed, can catch the ball.

Joe Ringwald: Hurt most of the season but has very good football instincts

good speed and agressive player

Ian McGurran: Tough kid, above average speed, likes to hit, good ball

carrier

Sam Chambers: Hurt part of the season but has a nose for the football

needs to grow a little improve strength to play in the middle

Josh Quillen: Average ball carrier IMO runs to much east-west good

speed, I think he is above average on defense as a

linebacker.

Dillon Carson: Good tough kid, plays very agressive his real contribution

will be as a defensive player IMO

Brad Rouse: Good football player, average speed, good north south runner

does not fumble, IMO played out of position at def end but

did a good job. Needs to get bigger.

M. Iles Big strong kid, needs to practice harder, in games play every

play has the potential to be a star from this class.

D. Nappier Big kid, likes to play needs to improve foot speed coud be

an impact player at varsity level

I was wondering what kind of size they have on the freshman team. I know size isn't everything, especially in Highlands football, but I was just curious.

As long as they are FAST, it doesn't matter.....:lol: You have to be fast to play for Dale Mueller. My 18 month old is doing laps around the couch right now toting the rock(pop-tart) Just Play Footbaaaaaall!!!

But size and speed is even better.

Continuing my evaluation of the key 2008 Freshman players is as follows;

A. Trapp: Big strong kid, likes contact needs to improve his foot speed,

I see him playing somewhere at the varsity level

B. Dupont: Good football player can play very well at several positions

IMO the best defensive player on 2008 team definitely will

play at the varsity level.

J,True : Exceptional running back, has size and speed good football

ability, as hard as he plays he needs to stay injury free, was

dinged several times during season. Could be the featured

back at the varsity level. Time will tell.

C. Neu: Will be the quarterback featured at HHS possibilty in his senior

year. Good skills at quarterback, will develop the ability to

read defenses because he is smart and coachable.

A. Merrill: Did very well for a kid who did not play any junior football

Very atheletic good hands, hope he stays with football and

not only play basketball

M. Meyer IMO that he surprised me the most at the way he was able to

learn the center position including the short and long snap.

Has good size, good speed for a big kid. Look for him to be

team leader and possible a team captain at the varsity

In summary this was IMO a very good group of kids that not only played

footall but seem to have fun. I dont see any of them getting much varsity

playing time during soph year because of the group playing ahead of them

but could get some limited experience as the mop up crew

Pretty good assessments, that is around 15 kids that have a good shot at developing into pretty good football players. If you can get a solid 10-12 from that class they should be fine by the time they are Juniors.

Patrick Towles should be a good player as well. He is already 6'2 and could get to 6'5 if he takes after mom's side of the family. He would be a nice option at Safety/WR down the road.

Sheehan's speed and football IQ will get him on the field very soon as well. This is a very athletic class it should be interesting to see who gets more size on them over the next year and half.

6'5 safety? That would be impressive.

His instincts are very good and he is athletic. Granpa is a big tall guy and I can see him growing to atleast 6'4. Pretty good hands as well.

Not disagreeing. You just don't see many 6'5 safety's at any level.
