Are the Cowboys Really "America's Team"?

Featured Replies

I'm not sure us talking about them on BGP is keeping them in the lime light. However if that makes you feel better after the performance they put on today, good for you.

How long is the streak in Dallas now? The number of years without a playoff win?

13 now

5 Super Bowls which is more than your Giants have. They also beat Pitt's the last time they got them on the big stage in the Super Bowl. Gloat all you want but they are a storied franchise. No doubt a dissapointement this year and I'm pretty down on them but that doesn't make up the history. They are still one of the top teams in the NFL love them or hate them. They have changes to make IMO but they aren't so far away that another title isn't possible the next few years. I'm suprised they didn't make the playoffs but I think any NFL fan knows that this league is crazy week in week out. You never know what's going to happen. I mean the Raiders knocked the Bucs out of the playoffs today! I was at the Colts game a couple of weeks ago when the Lions almost beat them at home. Break here, break there is what it's all about. Cowboys need to clean up their penalties too IMO.

I know talking about last year may be living in the past, but the last time the Cowboys even thought about winning in the playoffs was what, 13 years ago? Come on, they once were a great franchise...but now that greatness is nearly ancient history. The Giants are the 2nd most winningest franchise ever, with 3 super bowl victories and I believe 7 NFL Championships before the Super Bowl era.

I realize that you never know what is going to happen, but here's some things I know for fact. The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in OVER a decade. The Cowboys were expected to be championship contenders this year, and they didn't even make the playoffs. That's hilarious.

If they are America's team it's a sad shape America is in.

If they are America's team it's a sad shape America is in.

America actually is in a sad shape so yeah...

You know you're number one when just as many people love to hate you as those who love to love you.

They have won 3 Super Bowl's in the past 2 decades which is more than I can say for your Giants...:sssh: The underachieved this year but to act like they are some awful team that will never have a chance is silly IMO. There were a lot of teams/people sweating them this year. It's obvious some on here were and now that they are out those people are coming out rubbing it in because they can. They weren't too loud two weeks ago when they beat the Giants...:sssh:

They beat the Giants, what did that get them? They beat the Giants twice in the regular season last year, and what did that get them? Nothing, but the Giants win when it counts the most. Oh, and the Giants finished 12-4 and won the NFC East with more than 2 weeks to go left in the season .

The Cowboys are a mess. They have all the talent in the world, but they are not a good TEAM. The Giants are.

I got laughed at earlier in the year when I said that the Giants would contend for the the super bowl once again. Look who is laughing now.

Oh, and the Giants have won 3 super bowls in the last 22 years. One in each of the last 3 decades.

I can agree with the team part. The Giants dropped 3 of their last 4 didn't they? I'm glad you are so confident they are going to the Super Bowl to contend. I still laugh at you :) 3 Super Bowls is 22 years is pretty good.... not as good as the span Dallas won 3 in but pretty good. Dallas to be " a mess" beat the Giants straight up a couple of weeks ago so no matter how bad you want to paint the picture they aren't that far away from either being one of the elite. It's a chemistry thing IMO and I agree on the team part. The Giants have that down (now that Plax+Shockey are gone) and Dallas has changes too make.

I'm not keeping anything in the limelight. Sorry they have been such a disappointment that you have to take pride in that instead.
Sorry you have to constantly talk about a team you supposedly dislike. Perhaps you're really a closet fan. :sssh:

I think you may be the biggest closet fan of all, your obsession with the Cowboys is becoming world renown. Again, thanks for keeping them America's team. :thumb:

Got that right! :thumb:

Love 'em or hate 'em (I fall perilously close to the latter); the Cowboys need to figure out how to close out a season.

- Zero playoff wins in the last 13 years. A bit of research would reveal how many NFL teams have won at least one playoff game in that span.

- Losers of the last nine season finales. In the immortal words of Ed Rooney, "NINE TIMES."

- According to my unofficial statistics, the Cowboys are 20-34 after Thanksgiving over the last 12 years; for a winning percentage of .370.

I agree with you, they do need to find a way and that begins by firing Phillips. I'm a true fan, I can take the bad with the good. They've given years and years of great seasons and 5 Super Bowl wins, I can deal with some rough times. A lot of people, many on this board, would jump ship and find a new team to call theirs. I'll take the bad times now knowing the good times will be around again soon.
