Cry out to Jesus." Lately I have been encouraged by contemporary Christian music. Bands like Third Day, Needtobreath, Mercy Me, Newsboys and more. I'm not one who listens to any kind of music normally. Has anyone else experienced this? Back in the 1980s and early 90s I lived and worked around a lot of CC artists and producers. The majority of whom were and are some of the most creative and inspired people I've ever known. They are also some of the most real people I know, choosing to use their talents for good (and far less money than they might earn in the secular industry.) Many are not accepted by the secular world as real artists because they don't try to tempt others sexually, get wasted and sleaze around ( to name but a few issues. ) They are not accepted by many churches that refuse to accept certain instruments, rhythms, clothing, etc. Many have genuinely struggled and had to dig deep to find out who they really are... and more importantly, who God wants them to be. As a result, some of these artists ( I said "some" not all ) are truly modern day apostles, psalmists and prophets. I listened to a lot of it, back in the day. My wife and kids listen to it all the time now. It is such a blessing to walk into my home or get into our family car as it is being filled with uplifiting lyrics. I for one am very thankful for a genre my entire family can listen to and enjoy.

January 4, 200917 yr Didn't they originate from KCU ? Yes. I have been a fan since their inception. Now my daughter sings "Big House" and I love it. Just a comment about the various opinions on this music. Because it is created by humans, there are various levels of quality. But I believe there is something for everyone. :ylsuper:
January 4, 200917 yr Will be back in a few days but I have been introduced to a lot of contemporary Christian music the past few days and add me to the list of those who are not big fans. It has been the lone negative thing about my pilgrimage.

I just walked downstairs and my wife has "Positive, Encouraging, K-Love on right now." I love it. We've tried to teach our kids the truth of the old computer programming addage "garbage in, garbage out." It's true of our minds and spirits too. Just as your body cannot thrive on a steady diet of junk food, neither can your mind or spirit thrive on a steady diet of garbage. I've heard people say, "I just like the music, I don't really listen to the lyrics." The lyrics get in... believe me. Some may say I'm being brainwashed. I agree and reply, "That's exactly what I need... a good brain cleansing. A renewal." :thumb:

First I disagree with their point but if it is so, how would that make it ANY different than any of the other music in any other genre?
January 15, 200917 yr I agree with Jim Schue on this one.. Contemporary christian music is very bland and I feel that it pushes some people away... Lifts my soul.
