For those that might go to a Nashville Predators game, 7eventh Time Down will be playing during an intermission on February 5th when the Preds play Anaheim.

I've tried a couple of times to get into contemporary Christian but I just can't do it so I end up putting the Kid Rock cd back in.

So, if I'm looking for "Christian" music I go old school.

To each their own, I suppose, but I find it completely awful.

Third Day and Mercy me are a few of my favorites. Also a big fan of Chris Tomlinson.

That would be Chris Tomlin, and yes he is a phenomenal artist and a pretty cool guy as well.

I guess I can understand some people not liking the music, I know nothing about music and really don't appreciate any music of any kind. The thing I have been listening to are the lyrics. They have encouraged me during a time when I have needed it most.

For the record, with reference to my earlier comment: My criticism has nothing to do with the message. I've always loved Bluegrass and black gospel. My beef lies with the delivery. South Park nailed it on the head with that one.

IMO lyrics in any music but particularly CHRISTIAN music are the most important ingredient . . . without a message then the song is not worth listening to.

I don't know what you're talking about in reference to South Park, but I don't think South Park and Christian anything can be used in the same conversation.

South Park did a whole episode pointing out the Christian Rock/Contemporary Christian genre as being bland, repetitive and lacking in creativity. They nailed it cold.

South Park commenting on Christian Music and you take it as "gospel?" (pun intended.) I would think their disdain of the genre would raise it's prominence in the minds of most other Christian listeners.:D South Park would be the last place I would look for an opinion on Contemporary Christian music. I will say this, however, if there is no message, even if it is listed as Christian music, there is no real purpose in labeling it as Christian---it just isn't. Some Christian music I love, but there are some "Christian" songs that I am hard pressed to decide whether they are Christian or not. They could easily be played in the secular realm and no one would know the difference. If the lyrics don't point you to Christ, make you see your need of a Savior, then it might as well not be labeled Christian. JMO

What irritates me with some "Christian" music these days is how it doesn't mention Christ or religion in half the songs. Just because they song doesn't feature curse words, drugs, alcohol, etc does not automatically make it a Christian song.

So because you have a distaste for the crudity that they veil their social commentary in you consider any point that they raise to be inherently invalid?

Pretty much. I don't watch them and won't. The whole show lifts up reprobates and encourages the same in its viewership. (As does Family Guy, Simpsons, etc.) However, for the record, I would not respect the opinion or comment of South Park creators or the producers of any of these types of shows on any issue no matter how mundane or insignificant it may seem to be. ;)
