Do Roller or Welz move inside in 2009? If so, who is the other likely starter? If not, who are the other 2 likely starters?

 

No way Roller moves in. I'd heard rumors that Welz was going to move to a tackle, but heard more recent rumors that he may not. Dierig, Beck, Meyer, and Hahn come to mind quickly as some kids that will be competing for the open spots and I'm sure there are others whose names don't come to mind right now.

It would be nice for a couple of the juniors to be to take over the positions. I always like a combination of juniors and seniors on the line. That way there are always returning starters for the next year.

Who is going to be carrying the pigskin behind these hogs? IMO Welz and Grubbs at the tackles is solid and they would only need to add a guard. Can Hahn play guard or is he a tackle?

They won't need to run the ball when they Bardo and Collingsworth to throw to. I can't wait till next year.

Maybe Compton, Bankemper, Alford, True etc.

Make that Bardo to Collinsworth, Buten, Roller, Gold, Hogue etc.

Either way they don't need a big time running back next year. THey need someone that is serviceable. With a those big names Bardo will be all state.

No conversation about Highlands O-Line is complete without mention of the OUTSTANDING job that Coach SCOTT TURNER does year in and year out. There were a few...well, more than a few times when Coach T wasn't the happiest of campers after games. But the smile on his face after the 5A Championship spoke volumes!! Next year, I expect him to work his magic again! THANKS COACH T...FOR BEING THE BEST!

Bankemper is very legit in my opinion. If he gets 10-15 touches a game I believe he can get 500-800 all purpose yards.

As with everyone else, it depends on how much stronger, faster and quicker he gets this off season. I understand that Cherokee looked good in JV games this past season, so if he does what he needs to do this offseason, I'd think he would be competing for an open spot.

Can't say enough about Turner... when we lost Dave Bibb a few years ago to a coaching opportunity I thought the o-line would be in trouble. Turner came in and continues to do a masterful job year in and year out. My son is a product of Coach Turner and as a result managed to start on the O-line for four years after highschool play. Now, his dream is to coach the o-line next year at the school. Coach Turner played a very integral role in my son's collegiate carrer and his dream to coach. Thank you Coach Scott Turner!

My family has had the chance to get to know Coach Turner and his family outside of football. This man is genuine. He's a class act and has the heart of gold towards all people. Any young man that's fortunate to be coached by him will get more than football knowledge. They'll get a true role model.
