Maybe occasionally, but I'd think he'd be more useful opening up the field for the running game. I think he and Bardo are going to be a scary thought for defenses next year. It might come down to which weapon you choose to die by.

Collinsworth will get his touches and I think it would be a "different" look to put him in the backfield for a couple plays. BUT if Dale puts him back there to start and play I think it would be bad for him. Just my opinion though.

I agree, AC will be more effective split out because he will put more pressure on defenses with his ability to score from anywhere. With Fennell, Compton, Bankemper I think the Birds will have enough serviceable backs.

Do not forget about Jake True. IMO, he will be one of the most talented soph backs we have had since the JJ Frisk's day. This kid is a workhorse.

True may get his shot on defense...too many ahead of him at RB...he'll wait his turn, then be a star!

I agree but he will need to earn his keep. JV RB will be good for him if he doesnt start Varsity on the defensive side of the ball.

I don't want to be melodramatic - so I'll try to keep it short, but my Dad has been around the game for a long, long time, has seen it up close at many levels, and loves nothing more than old-school offensive line play.

 

Last season ('07) I was finally able to get him back here for a Highlands game. I had been talking up Highlands offensive line play to him for a while, but played it cool at the game to get his honest opinion. At about halftime of the playoff game, he said almost word for word what I had been thinking for some time - that it was the best executing high school offensive line he had ever seen, and their play as a unit was as good as you will see at any level of football.

 

In my opinion, you cannot overstate how good HHS offensive lines generally are, and how integral they are to Highland's success.

:thumb: Too many times the skilled players take the brunt of criticism when the line is marginal... the line is where it all starts and ends for that successful season we all have come to expect year in and out!

I think having 3 returning starters on the offensive line is going to be a great building block. I think Tyler Grubbs has some big time potential.

Definitely, Hunter Schlosser will be the leader of the pack on the O-line. Tyler Grubbs made HUGE strides from the beginning of the year to the end. If he keeps improving, working hard, and playing smart...the sky will be the limit for him. Tyler Combs did an outstanding job at center. He'ds on track to have a huge SR season. The key will be how the holes left by Dempsey and Bardgett get filled. The talent is there, the coaching is there. No wonder they are falling all over themselves to see who will run the ball with a line like the one HHS will have (LOL). "WHO YA' ROOTIN' FOR?"
