I personally think they'll beat Lafayette and Campbell Co though.

 

Campbell is tough so I don't see that, and I don't see them beating Highlands or Holmes.

Im calling 1 and 11 which is sad but true.

Looking at that schedule, 1-11 is VERY possible, but with bad luck ofer???

If all goes well, Shover may be on the court in the not too distant future.

 

Souces from CCH tell me that he could potentially see some limited action on Tuesday vs. Campbell County. He returned to practice last Wednesday.

I heard the same about possibly next week, but that didn't come from what I would consider an A1 source. From what I heard about his condition a week ago, his strength wouldn't be back until well after the first.:argue:

I hate to say it but a weak or a strong Shover isnt going to turn this season around. Listerman better start looking to get some youngsters some PT during the regular season. Im not saying throw in the towel and they definitely should be ready to go come tourney time but he needs to figure it out.

I'd argue that when (and if) Mitch gets to close to full strength and Mike shortens his bench you'll see a very competitive team. They will have 3 legit scoring options in Mitch, Luke, and Wellbrock. My prediction is you will ultimately see those 3 plus Ice and Pauly as the starting 5 with Ives, Sorrell, and Thelen coming off of the bench.

 

Can they win the region? Not without an upset of Holmes somewhere along the line.

 

Can they get back to respectability? Absolutely.

If Shover gets his strength back you might see this happen but its going to be an uphill battle. You make very good points and the 3 scoring options are viable that you mentioned. I would still expect them to make some noise around tourney time but they certainly do not want that 4 seed so they are going to need to beat HC or Beechwood during the regular season fo sho.

Pauly?! Wow, IMO he needs to throw some pounds on. He is quick, but not strong eonugh. Ives is the man they need to step up. He had a tremendous pre-season, but his game flows when Shover is in the line up. Look for Ives to get hot soon. Escpecially with Mitch (even if he isn't 100%).:thumb:

From my understanding, Pauly was a big part of Wellbrock getting points. That's what's been lacking on this team - the ability to get the ball ahead on breaks or into the post. Pounds make no difference in this area.

 

Ives is at a critical juncture as far as determining PT.

Look for the Colonels to be much more competitive when Shover comes back and gets up to strength. This is not to say they will be a threat to the Bulldogs, but will win their share of games against the rest of the region after the new year. When Bondick broke his hand last year the Colonels took a similiar tail spin, even with Shover and Roll to pick up the slack.

Don't know if you've seen Campbell this year, but they look better than Highlands from what I've seen, and Highlands already handled the Colonels. I agree on Lafayette, but it is down there? I was told last night by a reliable CCH observer that "there's just not much talent, with or without Shover"!!
