Wellbrock has his best varsity game by scoring 18 points and with Maile scoring 10 that is 28 of the total 38 CovCath points.

 

CovCath next game will be Tuesday Dec 23 vs Campbell County at CovCath.

 

CovCath is now 0-6 and I for one can't remember a year where CovCath hadn't won a game after 6 played!

lol 0 for 9 or 10 is still a lot. They just need to abandon that concept. Their three point shooting is terrible. Pathetic. I am also curious to see if they had many turnovers this game. Sounds like they did a good job of feeding it down low this game though. Just going to be a long season.

9 or 10 still a lot? Over the course of a game that's less than 3 attempts a quarter and when you are down by as many as CovCath was you sometimes throw up three's to get back into the game. Now if they had tried something like 15 or 16 maybe, but 9 or 10 really isn't that many at least to me...

lol having seen their three point shooting, and knowing the odds of it going into the hoop, IMO 10 attempts is a lot. It really doesn't matter either way though because had they attempted nine more, let's be honest, they might have made one.

 

Focus on driving, [which needs work but IS attainable] and feeding it into the basket [which works obviously] because those will be strengths. The only time I see shooting three's as smart is when Sorrell is having one of his nights, or Shover is back. Pauly and Ives throwing up a three maybe once a game or twice is fine, but otherwise not so much. It's horrendous to see.

Some seem to forget that other than Maile not a single player on the current team had much more than a minute here or a minute there playing varsity. For a team with so many seniors few other than Maile or Shover really logged that many minutes when it really mattered last year....

Yeah I understand that, but by game six, that excuse is starting to fade. They don't have the shooting or talent this year, that's fine. They really don't have any one player who is a stand out, and with Shover out who could be that player, it hurts even worse. There are all kinds of reasons this team is having problems, but lack of varsity minutes last year is the least of the problem at this point I think.

 

And no, I would not have Sorrell drive to the basket. Ives, although he has a tendency to throw away the ball, can drive to the basket effectively, hence the "needs improvement" aspect of "driving to the basket" that I talked about. Pauly is the same. He is too small though. I don't know, I guess it's just going to be a reallllly long season.

Wellbrock needs to be their go-to guy. He could be an effective post option all the time.
