I think the difference a coach can make has been underestimated here. Coach Breeden deserves a lot of credit for bringing TC along so quickly. Kind of scary where they might be by the end of the season. Also kind of scary where SC w/all these new players gelling will be by the end of the season. More fun to come!:dancingpa

SC has been down by 12 in 2 of their first 3 games. (21-9 against Ballard and down 12 tonight against TC at halftime). Eventually that slow start is going to come back to hurt them against a good team that matches up with them well.

I think Scott County is still by far the best team in the state, even if they did get a scare tonight. When there are 46 fouls called, the game is probably going to be close.

Scott Co may very well be the best team in the state. The point a lot are trying to make is they aren't as far ahead the rest of the pack as some of the SC faithful on here think they are. They aren't even that far ahead other teams in their own region...let alone the state.

East Carter lost by 16 to Tates Creek and East Carter Plays Elliott on the 23rd of December. After this game I'll tell you where I feel Scott County belongs in the state rankings. If they are a sum of their parts, then they are great, but if not, then the pre-season rankings won't mean much. Elliott's bench is much better than last season, so let's see how that goes.

I wonder if Ethan Faulkner would turn it over this much? Which goes back to the question, Who is the best point guard in the state? Ethan Faulkner, no doubt. This point was brought up all summer, who was the best point guard in the state. There should be no doubt that Ethan Faulkner is the best point guard that this state has seen in a while.

He picked up his fifth foul on a charging call. The TC player was a little to far underneath the basket as one ref called blocking but was overturned by another. Even the announcers called it a bad call. No matter you have to keep your composure.

 

Scott County has also got to be better on defense. TC got alot of easy baskets as they drove past SC aggresive defenders.

Scott County will be adjusting to playing with a bunch of new players to their system for about half of the season. Billy Hick's biggest challenge is chemistry. It will take more than a few games to do it, but if he gets the chemistry right (big "if") and gets the great players to buy into a team concept, this will be one of the best teams to ever compete in Kentucky high school basketball history. Oozing with talent!

I've noticed this about SC early. Seems like they have trouble on the defensive end and give up a lot of points. Teams who have settled for jumpers (Ballard) got blown out, but teams who were aggressive and attacked the rim (Duncanville, Tates Creek) seemed to give SC problems.

Easy to have a let down after going to OT with one of the top teams in the nation in a televised game.

Breeden is a great coach and always gets his teams to play smart and hard. Fucci and Barkesdale are pretty talented kids. Kudos to the Creek.
